Pumping to donate, plus need some occasionally for DD- Help!

A friend is due in early January, and she is anticipating having some trouble maintaining a full supply once she goes back to work. I'm planning on pumping to give her some extra milk (maybe regularly, or maybe just when she needs it). I also need some back up milk in the freezer for my own baby who is 4 months now because I am an apprentice midwife and leave her with her dad on Saturdays and whenever I have to go to a birth. My DDl be more like 8 or 9 months when my friend goes back to work and will need milk.

So my question is for those of you who have sucessfully pumped to donate, what is your pumping schedule like? Do you pump multiple times per day? How to you make sure that you have enough milk for your little one and the baby you are donating to?

Right now, I'm pumping twice a day, usually morning and night, and I get about 8 - 10 ounces total for the day. Any info would be appreciated!

I am not currently pumping/donating anymore. But I did for about 1 year for a mama who was near me. I did just as you are doing 1 time in the AM and 1 time in the PM, but times I waited about 1 hour after my lo had eaten. Some days I threw a extra session in (afternoon) if possible. I think what your willing to do for your friend is amazing! (I always kept a small supply on hand for my own lo just in case, and would rotate that to her on our next meet up.
