Our decision to do cows milk is twofold. First off I will state....we do not beleive that dairy is bad for us. We are all B blood types and tolerate dairy VERY well, infact we eat almost NO meat but consume dairy on a daily basis. Me and DH eat mostly raw cheese and some milk, but neither of us are huge milk drinkers. i know we are the only species that consumes other mammals milk, but we are also the only mammal with the technology to do so easily.
As far as for the little one. My son who will be 1 in November was a former 27 weeker, and unfortunately due to significant respitory issues could not nurse and has been bottle fed cow milk formula for the past 4 months, once I couldn't keep up with him by expressing breastmilk. We really want to get him off formula bc of all the fillers and start offering him whole milk asap, whihc will be in the coming weeks. We can not do soy bc it is not good for preemies bc of their bone formation, so the other option would be goat. We have a neighbor who has two beautiful jersey cows, who can supply our family with all the organic raw milk we need, for only $3 a 1/2 gallon (cheaper than the grocery store) so this is how we came to the decision to do cow milk.
Do you think raw is ok for a 1 year old?
