Urgent help needed... UTI , 6 week old..antibiotics

Hi,

My LO is 6 week old, intact and has been diagnosed with UTI (e-coli) and is on a 10-day course of antibiotics starting yesterday.

Apart from feeding him lots of BM, checking him for dehydration from the diarrhea he already seems to have gotten today and eating lots of garlic..how else can I help him?

What else can I eat that won't harm my milk supply but pass through and help him naturally?

Thanks so much

You can give him probiotics with b. Infantis (specific to baby's gut)...dip a moist pinky in the powder and put in ds's mouth a few times per day.

And nurse, nurse, nurse!

Hope he feels better really soon, poor guy.

..thank you..I forgot... we are giving him Biogaia.... it has reuteri... and something else.

If I pump myself full of d-mannose , cranberry juice (not from concentrate) and Cantharsis (homeopathy)..will it help my LO?

Do these harm breastmilk supply? My supply is hanging by a thread ...

My understanding with cranberry juice is that it has been shown to be effective in preventing but not treating UTIs.  But it wouldn't hurt your milk supply.
