I dream of something like that happening and wonder if I'd really have to call paramedics and be taken to the hospital, even if it was a healthy birth.  I'd love to have a homebirth, but due to distance from emergency services, it's just not feasible.

Leafylady, that was my first thought too-- Oh, the poor girl, if only she'd had an experienced homebirth midwife she could have just checked mother and baby and packed them off to bed/couch for some cuddle time instead of being put on a stretcher and taken away!

If you read to the bottom of the page there are actually TWO October DDC babies born like that. 

Also, if I happen to be so blessed to have a super fast birth, I plan to lay on the guest bed until the MW arrives, massage my belly, and otherwise cuddle with the new baby cuteness.

Wow, that's almost like my Mom. She lost her mucus plug at 11 then had to help my brother (2) and I (4) from being stuck behind the bed..... She took a picture. Lol Then she called my Dad's work and they called him. He was on top of a telephone pole and came rushing down and home. She called my aunt to put her on standby bc she was going to watch us. Dad and my aunt came and they thought Mom was in labor. She didn't feel like she was. Finally at 2 they talked her into going to the midwives at the hospital. It was 20 min later, before the nurse got her other glove on, that my sister was born. Mom said she didn't feel labor until she was on the way. So she counts her labor as 20 min. WOW

I really DO NOT want that happening to me. My MW is anywhere from 2 hrs to 30 min, depending on where she is at the time and if there's ice on the roads, it could be any amount longer!

Stories about 20 minute labors make me so nervous!
