Exercise Accountablility Weekly Thread?

I know there are a few other runners around here, and probably others who are into other types of fitness. Who would be interested in participating in a weekly accountability thread?

I was running 20-30 miles a week before, but I've been working 2 jobs this Fall which made it difficult to get all of the miles in. Then we started TTC and I kind of fell off the wagon near the end of last month. The last week of September I only made it out for ONE 4 miler, and the beginning of October hasn't been much better. I've been lucky to average 10 miles a week.

I'm determined to get back on track. Ages ago I signed up for a half marathon scheduled for January 13th 2013. I should be around 16-17 weeks by then. Last year I joined a training group that gets together every Sunday til race day, so I'm planning to join back up with them again and hopefully make it all the way through training.

I did 4 and 3 miles this past Sunday and Monday and felt pretty winded and slow, though I was pushing DD in the jogger. Also some of that could be due to my slacking over the past few weeks. But I've also noticed that after some runs, maybe 10-20 minutes after the run ends, I start experiencing a really dull lower-back and lower-abdominal ache. It almost feels like round ligament pain in front. I've been trying to hydrate more, but I'm not used to drinking much during my runs, so I might have to change that. Also I think I need a new pair of shoes, I've heard that pregnant women need more stability in a shoe, but I've always assumed that they were talking about once the belly gets big.

Right now I'm just about 5 weeks along (according to LMP. Closer to 4w3d by O date) so morning sickness hasn't really kicked in yet. I've definitely been tired, but still able to drag my butt off the couch. I hope I can keep it up!

How is everyone else doing?

Well, I haven't been a jogger/runner in quite some time. I was doing yoga daily a few months ago but life kind of got in the way of that eyesroll.gif . My plan is to start up with yoga again, throw in a few weights and a bit of cardio and I should be good. I found a few YT vids I think I'll work with starting off and check out a few DVD's from the library to see if I like any of them. Been meaning to start just haven't jumped in. Maybe I'll get on that now lol.

Well, I was on week 7 of couch 2 5K. I plan to keep running as I can, but right now, I'm in the process of moving. My husband is never home to help with the kids, and I don't have a good jogging stroller. I'm trying to figure out what to do. I have diastasis recti from my last pregnancy, so a lot of yoga (and many types of exercises) isn't all that good for me. I'd love some exercise ideas!

I'd like to join in.  I was running 8k once or twice a week and doing 15 min of HIIT every other day.  I have managed nothing but a handful of 10k walks since being pregnant though as I have had m/s since 4 weeks (now 7.5 weeks).  I would like to get back into doing something a little more physical as soon as I can tolerate it.  It is tricky though, I have 4 kids and a part-time job.  Right now all my extra time is spent curled up in bed!  I can't wait for the sickness and exhaustion to pass.

I am in! I have been trying to be consistent with my running. I am a marathon runner but totally understanding that I will not be running that much during pregnancy. I am trying to run 5 days a week, but I am more understanding with myself if I only manage 3-4. I'm trying to keep my distance up and hope to run one more half before I am too far along. Glad to be part of this thread!

What distances are you running, holidaymama? I'm planning to do a half marathon in about 13-14 weeks. Pre pregnancy I was up to 10 mile long runs, but then about a month before conception I got really busy and running fell by the wayside. Now I've dialed my long run back to 6 miles and plan to up that by a mile a week til race day. On the other days I've been running 3-4 miles, and though I'd love to be sticking to 5 days a week, I'm with you on being more understanding with myself and being ok with 3-4.

Except that two days ago I woke up feeling like someone dumped an ashtray down the back of my throat. I had an almost non-existent cough and no other symptoms so I went on my little 3 mile runs. Well now it has turned into a deeper, barky cough and I've got some very slight, mild chest and body aches. So I'm taking it easy today, and maybe tomorrow too.

I miss my workouts SO much! I can't imagine doing much more than walking right now, either. :(

I go to group class at DH's gym twice a week typically - it's a Crossfit type workout. I also like to hit the pool for laps a couple of times a week.

As SOON as I feel okay again, this MUST begin.

I usually get up in the morning to run/workout. I have been sleeping so much. I really want to stay active throughout my pregnancy but am having a hard time staying motivated after sleeping in for 2 weeks. Early morning is really my only time to exercise, so tomorrow I am getting up to run!

I haven't run in a week because of a deep, persistent chest cough that is finally letting up. When it started I pushed through and just ran anyway for a couple days, but the cough got worse as a result. So I think taking this week off was a good idea, but at the same time my exhaustion and nausea have kicked it up a notch and I'm a little bit worried about how its going to feel when I get back out there.

Luckily I work on my feet, and I commute by bike (only a few miles each way, but still) so I haven't been a total lump this week. Hopefully I don't feel like I'm starting out from square one, fitness-wise. We'll see.

EmilyFaith--did you manage to drag yourself out of bed this am? If so, kudos to you. How was the run?

I'm not a runner, but I do want to increase my activity level and need motivation and accountability. Really i am overweight to start but I have always mantained an active livestyle and moved my body. In august my dad got sick and I was busy caretaking him. He passed 3 weeks ago and I am finally breaking out of this haze and realizing I need to train for this marathon I am doing in late may/early june! ;-)

Anyhow, really looking to incorporate a healthy amount of moderate exercise/body movement. I was increasing my yoga practice to 2-4x a week before he got sick/had surgery. My goal is to walk 30 minutes most days and to get a hike in once a week if possible (it is hunting season and unfortunately my hormones have me in this fear mode of someone might shoot me or a bear will eat me... but I LOVE hiking)... And do some yoga 2x a week.

Hope it is ok I am starting where I am which will be to get in one sesson of yoga, a small hike and 2 days of walking and build back up. Guessing I can still join the club even if I don't run any more.

I did get out to run. It felt so good, I knew I would not regret it. Got up this morning too. But just walked a few miles with my neighbor. It feels good to know Im taking care of my body even if its lumpy and I have to stop to catch my breath. Also realized yesterday that my due date was off and Im not due till July 9th. woops.
