Well I'm definitely no expert, just have looked at hundreds maybe thousands of these and this nub seems to have a slight UP angle  which would indicate boy.  But that's for sure my guess!!

That's cool Tenk! You've definitely got me looking really close at the ultrasound pictures now! Lol! I didn't even think anyone could tell from these pictures! I'm so excited to find out.

Tenk - I forgot - have you ever worked in the field? Or just really interested in the nub theory? For some reason I thought you were an u/s tech in a past life or something! :)

I wish!!!  No I have never worked in the field.  After our sweet girl passed away in 2006 and it took several years (and fertility treatments) to get pregnant and not miscarry I read and researched SO many things and once pregnant felt like baby HAD to be a boy because we weren't meant to have another girl.  I had his nub pic and compared it to hundreds (literally!!) of others of both genders.  When I was 11w or so with the next one again she just HAD to be a boy because we were not meant to have another girl.  The reason I did so much research this time was because I was told at 11w she was a girl and I was devastated even depressed about it.  When pregnant again with O, his ultrasound was at 10w1d (very early for an NT and even to guess based on nub) and I took one look at the US and *KNEW* he was a boy when the tech even said she wasn't sure.  I definitely don't claim to be an expert but I feel like I'm as good a guess as some trained people :)

Oh, and after looking clearly at nubs I haven't been wrong yet ... even when some have been told there was no nub to guess from winky.gif

I had my NT scan this morning, and everything looked great!  The doctor said it was like I had gotten into a time machine and gotten pregnant at 30 instead.  We could see much more detail this time, and we could see the baby moving around a lot.  It was really cool.  And we feel so happy to know our baby is healthy.

Tenk! I found out today that we are having a GIRL!! Just wanted to let you know! My last ultrasound picture may not have been very clear.

But the Tech said he was 95% sure and that if he wasn't certain he wouldn't have told us! I feel pretty confident that he's right, I could tell it was a girl by looking as well. Very distinct 3 lines!! Sooo excited!!

That's awesome!!!  I've decided I'm just too rusty for this game anymore LOL.  I've looked at so many lately and just could NOT tell.  Sorry I was wrong but glad you're getting a sweet girl :)

I had a surprise US today to check dates and my kids loved it! And as I guessed, I am further along than lmp suggests, prob more like 16.5 instead of 15.1... Wow! He tried to see babies sex. But wasn't sure because it is still early and babies position... his guess was BOY though, which would be so fun to have 3 boys! I am totally open to opinions if anyone is good with us pix though! We'll see I guess for sure in a couple months

Congratulations on the brand new gals!  joy.gif

We thought we were having a girl (based on an early ultrasound), spent a month and a half telling everyone we are having a girl, thought long and hard about girl names, and then found out this month that we're actually having a boy.  orngtongue.gif

oh yay! excited to see/hear all the news!!! and surprises after early guesses. Tenk don't beat yourself up, I think it is super fun you were guessing for everyone and kind of wished I had a shot for you to guess from. I don't know I think it makes it more of a surpise LOL! Ahhh I have no clue and not that everyone is finding out I am like "come on week, hurry UP!"

Can't wait until next Monday for my ultrasound!! I mean you know to make sure everything is growing as it should (and hopefully this little seed is willing to flash us so we can see if it is a boy or girl) :-D

I'm using a birth center midwife and the laws in that particular state for using that particular type of midwife say that I have to see a dr. twice during my pregnancy to confirm low-risk status in order for it to be legal for her to attend my delivery.  One visit has to be within a certain number of weeks from delivery (I'll probably go in the 34/35 week time frame to my family dr, they filled out my low-risk form for me last time).  I figured visit #2 might as well be really worthwhile so it's a scheduled anatomy scan at 21 weeks with an OB who runs a friendly birth center about an hour away.  No muss, no fuss, they get what's going on so I don't have to be stressed about the apopintment or worry about them being weird about it since I'm clearly not going to deliver there.

The thing is, I got really antsy waiting for 21 weeks b/c I already knew I really wanted to know the gender.  We have 2 boys and I wanted to know whether it was time to sort through the hand-me-downs or sell them off to buy all new clothes.  So I got a little crazy a little over a week ago and made a last-minute appointment at a recreational 3D ultrasound place 15 minutes away and DH and I high-tailed it over there for a quick peek.  Boy #3.  Posterior placenta, wiggly and happy and gulping amniotic fluid.  It was just a quick look, told me what I needed to know.  We're still going to do the full anatomy scan at 21 weeks, DH is most comfortable having an OB check out everything and assure us that there's nothing there to be concerned about.
