My almost 6 month old isn't very happy being carried in a "hug" hold anymore. She wants to see what's going on and she'll arch her back and try to push away from me. :( I'm thinking a back carry would be better. The carriers I currently have are a mei tai style, a Baby K'tan, and a mesh wrap (for water). Are any of these suitable for carrying a 6 month old on my back or do I need to buy something else?

post #2 of 410/24/12 at 8:36pmI have been wearing my guy on my back for a couple of months. He is six months old now. My husband uses the ergo and I use an Ellaroo wrap. Here is a link for a back carry in a mei tai wrap. This is my favorite website for videos and instruction. http://www.wrapyourbaby.com/meitaiback.htmpost #3 of 410/30/12 at 4:11amMy DD is 18months and she still loves the "hug" hold during front carry. I am not that familiar with your carriers but can't you use your mei tai or a Baby K'tan for back carry? I think a wrap will also be nice,. I've read in some post that if you will make a wrap higher on the back, baby who want to see everything will surely love it. If you would try a wrap for back carry, just make sure of babies safety. Don't you have a SSC? I am using the Action Baby Carrier(lightweight SSC), DD and DH loves it. Hope this helps a little. Goodluck!

I used to wear DD1 on my back in a mei tai, but she was 2 and could hold on to me like a piggy back ride while I tied it up.

The Baby K'tan can't be used for a back carry from what I can tell. It can be used for a forward facing front carry though, so I think we'll try that too (maybe tomorrow for Trick-or-Treating!). I think as long as she can see out she'll be happy. She literally pushes away from me and bends her neck/head backwards so she can see out. lol
