SO TIRED!!!

Thread Starter

I'm exhausted all day!  I'm sleeping 8 plus hours a night but I can't seem to get through my work without holding my eyes open.  Is anyone else feeling this tired?  I haven't told anyone at work that I'm pregnant, so it's been REALLY hard to act normal and get my work done.  All I want to do is crawl under my desk and take a nap.  Does anyone have any recommendations how to tackle this fatigue?

Right there with you! I'm exhausted all day, even though I get 8-9 hours of sleep a night. I have a very active 2 year old who no longer naps, so it's hard to get any rest during the day. I just fell asleep in his bed while he was playing! I'm also having pretty intense nausea around the clock. Eating is a huge struggle---just about everything makes me want to throw up. The combination of the exhaustion and nausea really has me down...I'm finding it hard to feel excited because I'm so tired and sick. :(

Luckily the nausea hasn't really hit (yet?) but the EXTREME exhaustion is in full effect. I just want to sleep ALL. THE. TIME. And I'm getting a solid 8 hours a night. And when I'm not sleeping I just want to be horizontal. It's like the effort of holding my body upright is just too much for me, and I work on my feet :( Thankfully I have short hours, or I just might quit my job in an exhausted fit of temporary insanity.

I'm also really CRANKY and impatient with everyone and everything. And dizzy a lot. Especially when I get up from sitting, even if I take my time with it. Oh, and I'm constantly thirsty and still feel chapped and dehydrated.

What was this thread about again? lol.

Yeah...it's a rough first trimester for me also. I look forward to little milestones to get me through - both pregnancy related and not.

For example, my ultrasound and first prenatal are tomorrow morning - I've been counting down the days for awhile now.

My son's birthday party is next weekend - super excited to have family from out of town and all the festivities.

I'm even looking forward to parent/teacher conferences for my boys next week.

I've found that while nothing really seems to ease our symptoms, it does help to try and focus on the positive - because at least for me, it's all too easy to get caught up in the misery of the discomfort.

Hang in there, mamas....we'll be in the glorious 2nd trimester before you know it!

I am taking spirullina in the morning  and it seem to help with energy for a few hours. I  was super tired the first weeks not I just have energy from about 11-3. I am trying to get out in the sun and see if my solar panels are working and get me some vitamin D. I am also using peppermint oil to help with morning sickness. I rub it on my belly and legs and back of my neck. That also is a little charge of energy.

Just got to push on through and do what you can.

Tired here as well. I think some weeks back I posted on another thread how I had so much energy in the morning when I got up. That is a thing of the past. It seems that entering the 6th week has bought on the nausea and fatigue full force. I find that if I'm nauseous that it will make me feel tired as well.

I can't remember when was the last time I took regular naps. I think it was like 10 years ago when my third was born. When my 4th was born the others wouldn't nap and that was the end of afternoon naps. Id only nap in the day if I was sick or something. Naps are doing wonders for me though.

I fell asleep today while the kids were playing and woke up to about 40 stuffed animals lovingly placed all around my body.  It made my sweet nap even sweeter.

My kids still wake during the night, my one year old is nursing round the clock right now because he is getting a new tooth in.  I really want to nightwean him, but also want to wait a few months and see if he drops a few nursing sessions on his own.  It's hard to get out of bed in the morning after nursing all night!

I am so exhausted!  I have found that even 15 minutes of rest between sending big kids to the bus and driving the youngest to kindergarten helps me get through the morning at work.  When my 5 yo gets home I put her in front of a cartoon and nap on the couch (not ideal, but I need the rest).  When dh gets home I nap for an hour.  On evenings I work I try to rest more in the afternoon.  Even a few minutes here and there throughout the day make a bit of difference.  My work doesn't know either, so trying to keep my "game face" on at work between the fatigue and nausea has been a challenge!  I am nearly 9 weeks now.  Getting closer to the second trimester......I hope my energy returns by then!

I'm not constantly the knocked down, dragging, worn completely out tired (although that does happen!). I feel more or less my usual tired from everything else I do lol. It's just so weird! Once again, with DS1 and DS2 I was barely able to stand up most of the time the first tri.

Yes sooooooo tired here as well. I've managed to take a couple naps through the last week when I really couldn't stay awake anymore. I've found fresh air is really helpful. Also getting a bit of protein throughout the day has helped (dairy doesn't help though it actually seems to make me more sleepy). But I still crash around 1 every day.

I couldn't stand up today. I am so tired, but not even tired, more like I am made of lead and just need to down. Is there an extra gravitational all force today? I am 11 weeks and man I hope I get energy soon. My house is and family are suffering.

Check your thyroid and your iron levels.  We accept fatgue as normal in the first trimester, but it MAY be more than that.

I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism during my first pregnancy (and have stayed that way.)  For the first time in 5 pregnancies my doctor actually recommended checking my thyroid a few times throughout pregnancy.

A few weeks ago, I woke up one morning SOOO fatigued that I was shaking when I tried to walk.  I was dizzy too.  I found out I was severely iron deficient anemic (even though I was taking an iron supplement.)  I started taking Floradix iron plus B vitamins and I feel so much better now.  This level of fatigue is manageable.

I wish I could blame thyroid or iron levels - simply because I feel like there'd be some relief that way. I was just tested (for this exact reason - the fatigue is unreal this time for me!) - and I'm told that "you're just pregnant" is the reason for my extreme exhaustion. :(
