Midwifery opportunities in Maine/NH

Hello all!

I am planning on buying a home in NH or Maine sometime in the next year. I recently spent two years in Indiana as an apprentice midwife, but I have yet to finish and become certified. I would really like to continue pursuing this career in the place that I will be calling home. We are looking mostly at the White Mountain area of NH, possibly slightly farther north or south, and across the border into southwestern Maine and surrounding, but other areas are open to us as well.  Are there many people having homebirths up there? CPMs with (busy?) practices? Someday I would like to put myself out there as a trained, experienced assistant to help someone in their practice, but I've got to know if there's anyone out there. So I'm scoping out the scene!  Info, please, if you've got it!

Thanks very much!

I did a short apprenticeship over the summer in Concord and from what I saw in that time there is a huge demand for homebirth.

You could get in touch with the NH Midwives Alliance - www.nhmidwives.org - for more info.
