getting to know one another « Back to Group Discussions

Okay, so I admit that I'm a bit of a creep and since my little bundle isn't due until the 26th, sometimes I pop on over to the May DDC just to see what's going on there... 

They've started a "getting to know one another thread" where someone asks a question and the first person to see it responds, asking a new question. You just have to answer the one question asked by the last person to reply. Does that make sense? 

So, if this isn't a complete bust, I'll start. 

What was/will be your first purchase for YOUR little bundle?

I do the same thing with March since my dd is right on the cusp I'm game...

The very first thing I bought for the baby was a few days after I found out that I was pregnant. I bought a two pack of sleepers that are white with brown monkeys on them. Since then, I've also bought an Ergo (as much for my preschooler as for the baby... it was a killer deal!) and some gently used GN cloth diapers off a secondhand site. If it's a girl, we wont need much of anything else... if it's a boy, I'm planning one hell of a garage sale and will pick up more diapers and some NON PINK items lol... even though we bought mostly GN items, we've still got pink coming out of our ears with 3 girls already.

ETA: I guess I'm supposed to ask a question too... Um... What was your first thought when you saw your BFP?

"Oh my gosh! What are we going to do? I can't believe this! This is horrible!"

Followed only seconds later by

"Oh my gosh! I can't believe this! Another baby! I can't wait! So exciting!"

What number DC will this be for you?

This will be our 5th. Unless my dd2 gets her way and it's twins then we'll have 6. We've got 2 girls followed by 2 boys. I'm feeling girl this time around. Both dds want it to be boy/girl twins if there are 2, just to keep things completely even. I doubt there are two, but since I've had no ultra sound and haven't heard heartbeat yet, since we are skipping doppler, it's fun to think about it.

What is one thing that you feel super motivated about right now, because of your pregnancy?

I am super motivated since getting pregnant to finish my education. The last few years I've been taking classes here and there and just going through the motions. But ever since finally getting pregnant with our first baby, I have been crazy focused. I'm not just doing this for me anymore. I'm doing it for my baby. And that is so important.

Since this is our first child, ill ask a first child specific question. What do u think was the biggest change in your SO relationship after a baby came? (I will admit this is a fear of mine... W will have spent nearly 7.5 yrs together just us, by the time the baby comes and it scares me f how we will handle it lol we have a great relationship, I'm just worried that will change.)

Cloth diapers :) then a diaper bag (which is probably too big and I'll sell it) then those Disney colorful onsies

Well, with baby #1, we were 17 & 19... and had only been together less than a year before she was born(yeah, I know!). We had a pretty rocky relationship from the beginning throughout the whole pregnancy, but after Autumn was born, we both matured quickly, worked on our relationship, etc. 

With baby #2, we were older, established, married... and I guess the lack of "us time" took its toll. We had been a long-term funk since Sylas was about 6m old, slowly has been getting better, and... I fell pregnant again lol.

Oh, I suck! Mommy brain lol.

I want my midwife, husband, kids, and a doula present during the birth. No one else, especially not my MIL haha!

Do you have any names picked out yet?

For a girl, yes--Beatrice Helen, Helen after my maternal grandmother. For a boy, we're still deciding. But I'm leaning toward Theodore Quintin, Quintin after my paternal grandpa.

With your first baby, when did you start feeling the big kicks?

I think I was about 20 weeks when the movements stopped being little flutters and started being actual kicks.

This time I've started feeling the pops and bubbles earlier, but still no big kicks. I'm 15 weeks now.

Are you doing any specific prenatal exercise?

No, I'm not feeling well enough yet. I might try some yoga if the 2nd trimester energy ever kicks in.

Did you feel really ill/tired during the first trimester? If you are feeling energetic, when did it kick in?

I did feel ill and tired during the first trimester. The nausea disappeared around 11 weeks. I'm still tired in the afternoons, but not as exhausted as I was. That started around 12 weeks.

What are you enjoying most about being pregnant right now?

Since I'm only 14 weeks, I'm not so far along that I'm really enjoying a lot about pregnancy yet. I am starting to show, but every time someone makes a comment about my growing belly, I want to say "thanks! I know that I'm morphing into a cow before your very eyeballs, but you don't have to make me FEEL fat too!" I know intentions are good, though. I am, however, enjoying buying baby gear and trying to decide whether its a boy or girl!

How many more are you planning after this one?

Well I've said it before but I'll say it again. This will be our last LOL...I'm pretty darn positive I'm carrying twins so 7 is plenty for us. I've always teased that I'd know I was "done" if I had b/g twins...I think these are identical but twins are twins...we are done lol. (says the person that has said that since number 3 LOL)


What is the silliest thing someone has told you (advice or similar) so far?

I was told by two people now that because this baby was a surprise I HAS to be a girl! LOL I totally have felt boy since day one lol that doesn't even make any sense LOL

Have you told everyone in your circle of close and distant friends and family yet? (We haven't, idk when we will,.. Maybe when the baby is here LOL

We've told everyone and announced it on Facebook. Family and closest friends knew early, the rest found out a few weeks ago.

Where do you plan on giving birth?

At home...probably in the bathroom again.  I find it to suit me best...close toilet, close bathtub/shower, tile floors, little to no cleanup. LOL

Will you be doing anything with your placenta?

I have been reading into placenta encapsulation but I'm not sure how that will go. I'm having a hospital birth and I'm not sure if I would feel comfortable doing the encapsulation process by myself. I'm not sure if I could find someone around here to do that for me. Probably not.

... Are you planning on having any postpartum help? Like family staying for a couple of weeks.
