getting to know one another - Page 6

The first time around, we got a bunch of stuff we didn't end up using.  Once, my DP's aunt found us an exersaucer we did not want or have space for, and talked us into putting it into FIL's car and driving it back to our city (2 hr drive, it was Christmas with the relatives), where we promptly put it back out on the curb (from whence it came) for someone else to use.... She also gave me bins of musty, 15 year old clothes that were stained and no matter how much I washed them I could not get the smell out.  She means well.

This time around, I am saying yes to absolutely everything that could possibly make my life a tiny bit easier.  So far we have been blessed to get blankets, clothes, a baby carrier, a jogging stroller (awesome because the other stroller we have is about to fall apart at the seams), and we're going to get a crib in a few months from an acquaintance.  Also someone has offered us a car seat.  It looks like we will probably get some hand me down cloth diapers too.  We probably still won't have an exersaucer, as our apt has no floor space for something like that.  But I have a feeling I'm gonna get real cozy with the bouncy seat.  lol.gif

How are you feeling now that the second trimester is here?

How are you feeling now that the second trimester is here?

My food aversions are still in full force and I'm nauseas most of the day :( However the constant need to sleep is gone, so that's nice, having two toddlers makes being extremely sleepy SUCK lol.

Do you have any day in particular you see being your baby's birthday?

Well...assuming it's one baby...I see me missing April completely and having an early (first week) of may baby. If it's two....then who knows LOL!!

Is there a moment in the day where you aren't wondering SOMETHING about your baby or pregnancy?! LOL

Nope, I think about the baby alllll the time! Lol

Are you looking forward to your belly getting bigger?

Kind of. As long as thats the only thing getting bigger. I am looking forward to feeling the baby move more. Especially so my kids can feel it.

Will you be a SAHM once the baby comes?

Yep.  Been a SAHM for almost 7 years now, and we homeschool, so there'll be no change to that status. :)  I can't imagine things being different!

Do you have any intuition as to if baby will come early, on time, or "late"?

I think this baby will be "late". But I jut think that's how our babies grow.

Are your other kids doing anything to prepare for baby/are you doing anything for/with your other kids to prepare?

I think the baby will be here within 2 days(either before or after) of it's DD. My daughter was born at 36w, son at 43w, I figure this one will be "on time".

Do you have stretch marks?!

My DD threw all her toys out of her room so the bassinet can go in their room lol.gif, but other than that, nah.. no prep from them. DS has a nasty biting habit, so we're trying to break that before baby comes(he mostly lashes out when he isn't getting all the attention or something/someone is annoying him.. can't imagine a crying baby will help his biting if we don't get it under control now)

Are you getting any ultrasounds?

Just the anatomy scan at 20-21 weeks to make sure baby has all his/her fingers and toes. We will not be finding out the gender though.

Do you send out birth announcements and if so where do you get them done at or do you make them yourself?

I have sent out birth announcements for both, made them myself... I think I'll be getting professional ones with this baby..

I didn't with my DD, as I didn't know people did that (seriously I didn't know lol!) This one I probably will.

If you can feel movement, when is your little one most active? Mine is in the morning (like now, it keeps a fluttering and I love it! :-) )

Definitely afternoons and evenings!

Will you be having a baby shower?

Nope! No baby shower for us! Even tho this is our first... Idk the idea of a baby shower just doesn't sit right with me. Probably because of all the yrs it took for us to get here, and I'm also real superstitious abt "prepping" to much before baby gets here. So we are going to just get the basics we will need and then when the baby is abt 6 weeks old, we'll have a "sip & see" party for everyone to come bring gifts and meet her smile.gif

Anyone find it a bit awkward to "talk" to your belly? (If you even do that is) My prego friend does it all the time, and I have occasionally but it usually just feels strange LOL

Haha. I don't talk to my belly at all yet.. But I think I will eventually... once my belly gets bigger, I find out the gender, and I start to feel the baby. Generally, I have the idea that I will once everything becomes more real. DH already does. He kisses my belly every day and always sends sweet texts while he's at work, like "I miss you and baby!"

After you have baby, will you prefer to keep baby home as much as possible?
I am really, really adamant that I will be home with baby always to begin with. I already have this fear of passing baby around to family and friends. I just feel that that's how germs are spread and it is safest if baby isn't passed around too much. I know that this is going to be a big battle, as this is going to be the first baby in both of our families as far as siblings. My brother hasn't had children yet and DH's sister just got married in June so they haven't began trying yet, either. I just KNOW that it's going to be a big hassle.

Not really.  We just get back to life, normally.  We are surrounded by family in the medical field (DH included...and he's on the "front line" of nastiness as a medic, unfortunately) so we can only do so much.  We are a pretty healthy family overall, though.  And we exclusively BF and don't vaccinate so I really trust the strength of my baby's untouched immune system.  (I was the first to have babies in my family, too, so I get what you mean by that!!!)

Do/will you have names set in stone for baby or do you have some to choose from after baby comes? (to see what "fits"?)

Names are set in stone... both our kids names were picked out during pregnancy and fit, can't imagine why that would end now :) The only thing I MIGHT do is when the baby is born(if it's a girl) tell DH I really, really want Lauren as her MN instead of Jane, you can't say no to a woman who just pushed out a baby, can ya ;) :P

Are you going to pump at all?

Probably won't pump unless I'm trying to increase my supply. DD had a couple of pumped bottles that DH or my mother gave her to have that special moment but otherwise I exclusively nursed her. Thankfully, she never went to bottles! When she was about 8 or 9 months she figured out straw sippy cups so we didn't have to deal with bottles. I'm hoping this one will be the same way.

What are your Holiday plans?

Thanksgiving, DF and the kids want me to make some peanut butter pie, and maybe some other stuff, and then we are going to go to my mom's for dinner. My brother and SIL will be there, and we've never really gotten along, especially with all the *stuff* between us, but... we'll see. I don't have any hard feelings against him, but at least from last I knew, he still wanted nothing to do with me. We never talk directly between us, but he's convinced that DF and I don't deserve kids, and he does, because his would be *so* much more better behaved than ours. Anyway.

Christmas, I want to be "strays" at my friend's family get together, but I know my mom will want us to go over there, so we probably will. We're going to get hot chocolate sometime and go out and look at the lights. We'll probably do breakfast of some kind, and gifts from Santa here, then head to my mom's.

I will be pumping some in the beginning to get a little freezer supply stored up for if and when I need to go out with DH without the baby. With my 2nd son I was pumping nonstop for work and didn't have any left over for nights out, so my baby came with me everywhere for 10+ mths in case he needed to eat. I pumped at work for 10 mths then stopped. I'm hoping to not be working this time around after baby is born, so hopefully I won't need to pump for work, but we're still on the fence about that so we'll see.

Thanksgiving at my Aunt's house, xmas eve at my SIL's and then xmas day at my Grandma's. We also go to Zoo Lights at the zoo and this year we hope to walk down Michigan Ave in Chicago to see the window displays.

What type of stroller will you be using? Do you need to get a double stroller? I am still debating on if I want a double stroller.
