We have a Phil & Teds Explorer.   We've gone through several P&T strollers and this is my favorite yet.  Most people frown at the idea of a child in the lower seat, thinking they would hate it, but my kids (and those of many others who own the stroller) seem to love it.  We also have a MacLaren Twin Techno but we only use it for vacations since it's easier with that kind of stuff.

Is there a certain baby stage you look forward to most? (brand new, a few months, getting mobile, etc?)

I love the newborn stage, but... I have to say I think babies are pretty boring until they hit toddlerhood(granted, they are more work then... but..) so I guess.. mobile!

What's something you do that isn't so crunchy?

I do all sorts of not-crunchy things. I do whatever works best overall for our family at the time. For example, I will sometimes serve dinner on paper plates because the kitchen is already piled high with dishes and I need to get a handle on things before making more mess. I walk the line somewhere between mainstream and crunchy.

Does your (or will your) partner give you a "push gift?" How do you feel about the whole notion?

After all I've been through this far with the hospital visits, surgery, sickness, pain, and bedrest for the last 4 weeks and for 16 more weeks? I better get a PUsh present! LOL I think they are great., I'm totally not an expensive gift kind of girl, but I think they are a great way to acknowledge all that mom has been through to get this beautiful baby to birth and its also a nice momento I think to have something special to remember from each child smile.gif I've dropped a few hints to the hubs already. wink1.gif

Those of you who already have children... What would you say was the most important baby essential?

I LOVED our baby swing.. call me a lazy mama, but it was much easier to get stuff done when the baby was rocking in the swing instead of me baby wearing.

Have you had any pregnancy hormone related tantrums?

Oh all the time whistling.gif  My hormones are horrendous right now, and I feel like DH doesn't understand that my day is fueled by my hormones for that day. Somedays I'm super happy and outgoing, somedays I'm very very crabby and let everyone know it.  I need to learn to walk away more often to not start a fight with DH, but I wish he'd learn that these are my hormones talking, not the sane normal wife he usually has!!

Will you be doing any kind of belly binding after this birth? I plan on getting a bengkung.

Me too! I've been *so* cranky lately, more than I've been super happy. Plus trying to stave off these dang migraines, and I'm a horrible mess.

I haven't really looked into it, but it sounds like something I would like to try.

Are you experiencing any cravings lately? Mine has been fried chicken. Especially spicy, extra crispy. The worst part is, I never succeed in frying it, so I can't eat it when I try and make it.

There's a scene in the movie "Knocked Up" where the dad is yelling at the hormones, my husband loves to reenact that scene whenever I'm being a brat.. hahaha. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QEJcuiBVznY <-- there it is, it's really funny but... very strong language, you've been warned if you click it!

I crave lots of different things, at different times. Sometimes I get a real hankering for a banana the next day a Big Mac and the next day all I want is cereal, BUT whenever I get it, I can't eat it. UGH! This pregnancy and its food aversions are going to be the death of me(and my bank account)

Are you cloth diapering or using disposables?

Thread Starter

Definitely cloth diapering! I have already began buying my cloth stash!

Do you/ will you allow your children to watch television? We are getting rid of our cable and only having Netflix, but I think we will ultimately choose to have our children not watch tv... Or does that make me sound like a Nazi mom? Haha. I may change my mind as my two year old is hanging by the ceiling fan with a knife and I'm just trying to dust my furniture for ten minutes!

My baby will NOT watch tv. However once she gets to 18 months / 2 yrs. we will prob allow 30 ,minutes or so a day if she is interested. But she will be on our iPad/iPhones ...etc playing I'm sure lol my nephews 2 & 4.5 can't get enough of our iPad lol

Anyone else that has pets... Are they driving you crazy now that your pregnant?ive found that I really don't have much patience with them as I did before... I think I put all my maternal energies onto them cuz we've been waiting for our baby for so many years and now that she is coming, I just don't feel all that for them anymore. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE them to death and would NEVER give them up. I just feel like instead of being our whole world, they now have their place, as r beloved pets and not our "children" anyone else? Or am I just a mean puppy mom lol

I grew up in a household where I was not allowed to watch TV. This resulted in my sneaking in TV time (usually when I was supposed to be doing chores and my mother was out of the house.) We do not have cable but do often leave the TV on to watch the news and listen to in the background. I am trying to change those habits now so that our environment will be less "screen time" based but with a "techy" DH I wont fight a battle I can't win.

What is your fav children's book?

"The Very Hungry Caterpillar" or "The BFG", but that's geared towards older kids.

Will you let your kids wear character clothing?

I do, but I'm very discretionary about it-- has to be a character I'm not disgusted with, and I have to think the shirt's cute (like my two year old has a red shirt that is just a big elmo face, but I wouldn't do one that is more of a cartoony looking scene with words all over it, if that makes sense.)  And it's just for playtime or weekends, not for school.

What do you think is the best perk of being pregnant?

Getting more leeway! People are more understanding when I have to bow out of activities or leave early. Also, I'm not a big drinker, and when I'm pregnant no one tries to pressure me to "have one to loosen up" or "try my drink, it's great!"

That applies to myself as well. Prior to being pregnant, I felt bad about napping when my toddler napped; no matter how tired I was, I felt like I was slacking off. But now, it's easier to give myself permission to nap because I am "legitimately" exhausted and not just lazy. :)

What's your favorite item of maternity clothing?

I've... never worn maternity clothes! But I do like flowy shirts!

Do you want baby to look more like you or daddy?

Me! All the kids (my kids & nieces and nephews) all look like DH's family with blonde hair & blue eyes. I have dark hair & dark eyes so I want a baby with dark hair! LOL! My older son was born with a full head of dark curly hair, but then it turned blonde. My DH's genes are strong though, I'm guessing (s)he will have blonde hair blue eyes too. Ah well.

What is something new you want to use / try with this baby that you haven't with your other kids?  I want to get those muslin swaddle blankets this time around. Aden & Anais sells thems.

My kids look like me minus the redhair, I love it.. I'd love it even more if I actually DID get my redhead girl.. but wishful thinking LOL.

I want to moses basket for the living room, or something similar. I plan on getting a swing and bassinet for our room, but I don't want this baby sleep trained for their swings like other two were.

Hmmmmm, do you know any other language? Are you going to teach your baby that language, too?

DH and I both know sign language (we are interpreters) and hope to teach the baby!

What are you most scared about (motherhood or pregnancy related)?

I don't know another language, but do plan on teaching this baby some sign language as well. We taught our other 2 kids some and it really helps with communicating.

I am not scarred about anything to do with motherhood as this is my 3rd, but as far as pregnancy - I'm scarred that my midwives are not as naturally minded as they say they are and I won't get the birth I really want. I'd say I'm scarred of it hurting, but I already know it does. And while I'm definitely not looking forward to that part, it doesn't scare me.

Are you hoping the baby comes before after his/her due date?
