You're right about toddlerhood being a new ballgame! I think 1-2 years is my least favorite age so far. I never read any books about babies with my daughter and we got along just fine. I'm thinking about checking out "The Happiest Baby on the Block" this time around, just to get some more soothing ideas.

Ping isn't so bad a name! ;-) I'll have to add it to our list. jk ha ha

I do think about it, but in more of a "hey, that'd be kind of cool" way. LOL  I am sort of obsessed with normalizing birth so I always play through a variety of scenarios in my head and how I could use them to show that birth isn't anything to freak out about. LOL

eta- the MESS factor of having a baby in the car does sort of freak me out...my births haven't been messy but I've always been set up for them beforehand.  So I imagine there'd be a certain amount of clean-up in a car.

Did you purchase any black Friday deals for baby?

I think about it in a "I wouldn't have to worry about hospital protocol" kind of way. Like, I want a homebirth, but DF isn't comfortable with it, still, so... maybe like a compromise-type thing.

Do/Did you get "into" Black Friday at all? I usually go out, after/at midnight Thursday, and I definitely don't do any camping out, but I do enjoy the chaos, and the super good deals (when they have them).

We don't have black friday in Canada and I know that some Canadians go to the USA but it has never interested me, since I do not like shopping or crowds. 

What are your favourite cloth diapers for young babies? or what cloth diapers are you planning on using?  We used g-diapers with home-made inserts but only from about 3 weeks.

I do not normally get into Black Friday and holiday shopping too much. 

But we did buy a co sleeper with a minimal holiday sale and discount. I also splurged on some second hand maternity clothes. We also received a "big ticket item" from my MIL for the holidays. We are very grateful, of course!

I didn't buy anything on Black Friday. Oh wait, actually I went to the thrift store cuz my son needed bigger winter boots. Found Avengers ones which he is crrently sleeping in LOL. Also got him a Columbia jacket for $3. LOVE the thrift store. I saw a dresser I want to go back and get. Everything is 24% at the thrift store for Black Friday and I also have a 30% off coupon so it should be pretty cheap. They also have a ton of dressy boots I want to go get.

I use just regular cloth pre-folds. I got a bunch of them 2nd hand from a friend of a friend with my last baby. I use Thirsties covers. I have a few AIOs but prefer pre-folds.

Is your family trying to name this baby for you? Do you tell the name before the baby is born?

I used one size diapers with DS when he was born and even though he was a big boy, his legs were far too skinny for the smallest setting for weeks... this time around I'm going to do prefolds, I heard they "fit" newborns better :) Green Mountain Diapers is where I'm looking!

We didn't get any Black Friday deals for the baby.. I like gender specific stuff, so... gotta wait lol. 

No one's tried to name the baby for us, but have made it clear they don't like Calliope or Boston.. *shrug*

It was not thanksgiving for me, but yes, I eat so so much lately.  The more nauseous I feel, the more I eat.  Evenings are always the time I feel worst, so literally some evenings I do not stop eating. I am always nibbling something.  I like things like pomegranates that make me work for them, so constantly eating is not constantly consuming a lot. 

I have heard dolphins are very attuned to knowing if a woman is pregnant, and they will respond differently to a pregnant woman in the water with them.  Do you get the sense that any animals in your life may know about your pregnancy?

Where do you plan on having this baby sleep(in your bed, bassinet, crib, separate room, whatever other options.. lol)

Wait.. Babies SLEEP?!? Lol I have had a feeling for a few weeks now that this little lady is gonna just be a constant nurser lol she's already so demanding when it comes to food. She starts kicking me before I even realize I'm hungry lol but if she does sleep lol it'll be in our bed/ or a bassinet next to our bed. And then I'm assuming around 6 months or so we will put the crib in out room and she will sleep there in our room, til she is ready for her own room.

Those of you that have breast fed what was the hardest, most unexpected issue for you in the beginning?

Honestly, the hardest issue for me, was with my first. I had 3 different hospital lactation consultants telling me three different ways to nurse my baby and saying that the other ways were wrong. I had a really rough time getting started with it and she didn't latch right at first, which they weren't very helpful with, which caused me to get really sore. There was cracking and stuff. I almost quit, it hurt so much. Thankfully, my husband is adamant that our kids will be breastfed and told me to trust my instincts.I finally, when we got home, was able to latch her on well. He was a great strength during that time even though I didn't have much help or support outside of him, at the time.
 

Do any of you have colors for your baby? With each of my pregnancies certain colors have stood out to me as the baby's colors. This time it is tan, chocolate brown, and ocean blue.

Orange.

It's gender neutral, without being pastel yellow or green. lol. Once we find out what we're having (Friday) I will get gendered stuff too, but I like to balance it a bit. No "princess" shirts for baby girls, for example.

We got a crib when my daughter was 14 months, but she didn't like it. We won't set it up for the birth but may try it out after a few months, depending on how co-bedding goes. Last time, my daughter slept in a drawer on our bed. It worked wonderfully.

Have you had strangers ask inappropriate questions about your pregnancy/conception?

I must know more about this!  :)  Someone is actually giving us a crib, but before that I joked a lot about the baby sleeping in a drawer.

I haven't had anyone ask me weird questions, but I think I've mentioned before that FIL asked me, "So, do you know how it happened?" when I told him we were having another baby. 

Will you do hats or no hats on baby?  I didn't put any hats on DD because she was born in June (and I've had a heck of a time keeping a hat on her ever since), but this time around I've been struck by the uncontrollable urge to knit hats, so this baby's gonna wear hats.

It stays chilly here until mid-late May so we will probably do hats at times for the first month.  Then we will move to sun hats.  Someone told me before DD1 that the earlier you start them in hats the easier it is to keep them from taking them off later, and I definitely found that to be true (with the one I did vs. the ones I didn't).

Are you making anything for baby? (clothes, diapers, blankets, scrapbooking, etc)

I'm  a scrap booker but i am also making a gender neutral babies first christmas ornament base so once the baby is born i can use it and have it done. other then that i'm goign to be making a big "floor pad" aka keep the baby off the carpet blanket that has a waterproof side "just in case" that way we can bring it with us when we go to peoples houses who also have pets.easy way to keep allergens from the floor at bay. lol  not to mention the dirt and grime off paws.
