I am hoping someone can help me with this question - When you have a day 10 ultra sound, should the Doctor be able to see follicles by that time? The follicles start growing on day 1 of our period right? So the follicles should be large enough to see at that time on day 10 on ultrasound right? Also, what if no follicles are seen on that day - is it possible they can grow and ovulation can still occur that month? any advice would be appreciated thank you!

They should be able to see something. Sometimes they do a follicle scan on day 3 to see how many follicles you are starting out with and there are normally several of them. As your hormones kick in 1 follicle becomes the dominant one and grows the most. Have you had an ultrasound? Are you taking fertility medications? Some women do ovulate later, but I think there are pretty much always some follicles on your ovaries.

That makes much more sense! The follicles aren't considered mature until they reach a certain size which usually happens a couple days before ovulation. For example, if you normally ovulate on day 14, they might not be mature until day 12 or 13. Seems totally normal not to have a mature follicle on day 10. So, you still have a chance for a follicle to mature and release an egg. Try not to worry. This is a stressful time so take it easy!
