Birth Bead Swap... Anyone interested???? :) - Page 2

I am open to anything easy. ;)

Checking on postal rates now to see what we are looking at price-wise for shipping... Ugh. USPS site is worthless... It is saying just over $5 for a flat rate small box or a padded envelope.  That seems a little high.  I can stop in the actual post office tomorrow to price check. I will look into the cost of those vs. the cost of paying postage on our own padded envelopes. :)

I'm going to guess in the $3 range envelope included. I ship a bit and those .96 padded envelopes from Wal-Mart should be more than enough to hold the beads. Honestly, you could probably reuse the envelopes we send the beads in by just putting new address labels on it and using shipping tape on the closure.

I think tossing a few bucks into the envelope will work fine. Then Jodie will have the cash in hand to turn around and send the beads back out out.

Are these beads a specific brand? Or is it any beads that fit on a necklace or bracelet? I am thinking like the ones in Michaels, but there are beads everywhere now, even Wal-Mart has them. Are they all the same size, or there about? I don't make crafts, and have never done any beading... duck.gifSo I have no clue, haha!

You're right--- with just a couple dollars involved, sending cash is probably the way to go here.

Any bead that either a. looks pretty to you, b. means something to you, c. some believe certain stones have healing/restorative/other properties  I am sure you could find some at craft stores, wally-world :), or ordering online.  :)  All the beads will likely be different sizes/colors/shapes.

Such a nice necklace!  Thanks for sharing!

I didn't know that! I guess not many people write about birth bead swaps :)

Love this story! It's nice to have something tangible during labor that reminds you of others thinking about you. During labor, I held and wore the necklaces and then when I go to not wanting anything touching me, I hung it on a door knob where I could see it.

I have a bunch of those envelopes. Good idea!

I also like the idea of getting them sent out early, so that we all have ample time to get and assemble what we want to with them.

Thanks for organizing this!
