Rae - for your HB have you tried deglycyrrhized licorice tablets? They come in chewable tablets - I suggest the chocolate flavored ones if you can find them. It doesn't necessarily prevent the HB in the first place so don't stop the other things you're doing, but it soothes and heals the irritation in the esophagus and intestinal tract. I take one with each meal. My symptoms definitely worsen when I don't take it. That plus the pepcid should get things under control. I've been avoiding doing pepcid, just because I had a bad situation with taking a proton pump inhibitor Rx many years ago for GERD. So I've been relying on the deglycyrrhized licorice, papaya enzymes and tums. I take the first two with each main meal, not snacks and then take tums as I have symptoms. It's been working for me. My symptoms vary - yesterday I didn't need tums at all - but Monday night I needed tums twice during the night. Some days I have taken up to 5 tums. But most days it is 1-3.

TM - I agree you never can say when the baby will come. I think there is no real predictor. There are herbs you can take if you feel like you want to tone down the contractions you're having. False unicorn root, black haw and cramp bark.

Zebrachicks - which T-shirt fitted pattern did you use for your diapers? Do you like them? I was thinking of doing the T-shirt prefolds, but maybe I'll try fitteds... if I ever get to sewing them!

I'm squirting milk all over the place too... And am freakishly nesting. ALOT. With bouts of energy only for nesting/cleaning.
All of this (and the fact that everyone just has a feeling I'm gonna go early) has made me wonder if these are signs of perhaps having an early bub???

Hey, you never know!  LOL  I think the truth is nobody really knows.  I remember having a lot of BH with my first two babes, then not many with the rest. Don't know why either.  My first was something like 41 W 2 D...the second was just past 40 weeks, as was the third.  THEN the fourth threw me for a loop and I think I was something like 38W4D with him when my water broke.  I always went over so wasn't prepared.  LOL  We got up and started doing laundry once my water broke!

It sounds like you've really thought of all of the possibilities.  I hope that the best situation winds up working out so that you can have a peaceful birth and babymoon!

DH wound up taking the rest of his vacation time for the year right at the end of December, so starting december 21st I'm good to go.  LOL.  There's a couple of past babes where DH took time to plan and the kid came AFTER the time.  Heh.

All the Halloween craziness today, two kids still don't know exactly what they're doing, so we have a few last minute costumes to make up.  They don't seem to care as long as they get candy!

I'm right with you all and the heartburn.  I have switched to really small meals...works really well!  Must less heartburn, though even smaller portions of certain foods (like spicy or tomato based) still gives it to me.  Right now I feel like I'm taking things one day at a time.

I have had to cut back on the dancing a bit.  I started getting contractions after overdoing it the other day.  I modified my exercise a bit, and split it into morning and evening sessions.  Doing about 20 minutes each time.  Well, maybe more like 40 minutes yesterday morning, since Just Dance 4 came out I've been trying out all of the routines courtesy of Youtube and do that in the morning.  I have to watch though, it doesn't feel like work and I tend to overdo it.  I do it when the kids are asleep at night as well.  My oldest DD somehow cannot distinguish between baby belly and fat.  She tells me I need to lose weight to look good dancing (regardless of the fact that I have 5 stars at every dance and had 10+ years of dancing classes long ago).  I don't know exactly how to handle that other than tell her that it's baby, not fat.  I just don't think reality has hit exactly yet that there's another kid coming.  I'm crazy enough that I actually like the way I look right now (baby belly and all).  Well, maybe other than the fact I have a little bit of a farmer's tan thing going on...which I was noticing the other day when I was thinking about taking pictures.

So, mamas with 3+ pregnancies, is your baby head down now? I know I am not supposed to be worried at this point....BUT I AM!  I am 34 weeks and he is still so busy in there. I figure at this point it is fruitless to do any of the tricks to turn him because he is still turning so much! I woke up this morning and was sooo comfortable because he was head down.....aaaaah relief. But it was short lived. In the last hour he has managed to go to side-lying and is wiggling and kicking up a storm (though I was glad he went head down for a short time because at least now I know he CAN and we aren't having a cord issue or something).

I know this is not uncommon when you have a "well used" uterus that is stretched but I am anxious for him to get where he needs to be...partly for selfish reasons because when he is head up bending over is so difficult!

Babe has been head down at every checkup so far - but I KNOW it can't be head down all the time from the kick pattern.  I am trying not to worry about it - I wish babe would get head down and stay there because it's more comfortable for me and less nerve-wracking, but there's nothing I can do about it.  I have started chiropractic care with a Webster chiro because I'm in so much hip/pelvis discomfort, which can't hurt.  Also, DD freaks me out by continuing to insist that there are 2 babies in there.  I'm pretty sure this is just her 3 year old logic to not knowing if it's a boy or a girl - but every time she says it I start thinking, 'well, maybe the kick pattern is so weird because there are 2 babies kicking me at different times in different places and MW has just missed a second heart-beat and they're just really small (since I am measuring right on and don't look 'huge' to myself) . . . '  Ha!  There had better only be ONE baby in there!

Mamabeakley, that is so funny because my 3 year old keeps insisting the SAME thing!! He keeps telling me there are 2 baby brothers in there. And I have to say every once in a while when I feel like there is an octopus in there it makes me wonder but like you, I am measuring right on track so I'm sure it is 3 year old logic! orngbiggrin.gif

I will third your twin thoughts--mambeakley!

My DD is 3 and also tells me that it is 2 babies--a girl and a boy! I haven't had an U/S and we don't do doppler HB, so, it is entirely possible of course, but I don't think there are two. I did at one point, but what I am feeling down low as 'kicks' are really punches I am sure. I know I feel babes head in pelvis for sure at all time! and lots of good thumps and kicks up high, but it does feel like this kid is everywhere inside of me--haha--I am going with this is going to be a BIG kid vs. the twin idea ;)

You are making me feel much better, Tropicana and Mamaharrison!  We can't ALL THREE be having unsuspected twins :-)  Happy Halloween everybody - I'm off to pick up some last minute Great Pumpkin presents for my kids and head home for the festivities.

Yes I'm always surprised how strong the punch/shoulder/elbow movements can be for such a small person!

M/W said after 32w or so, they really don't flip back head up. cause their heads are so heavy!

Happy Halloween everyone!

ROTFLMAO.gif  Well then she needs to come over here! I am 34w3d and am still getting head up/head down/side-laying in any given day!

EXACTLY! nor can we all three have psychic 3 year olds ; ) haha

Tropicana--I don't have 3+ kids, but I KNOW that what you are experiencing is totally within the realm of normal ; )
I can imagine that you would prefer, for many reasons, to not be dealing with that anymore and have babe settled head down, but it will happen in the next few weeks! I think that it wouldn't hurt to do daily inversions, if that feels right to you--also I would maybe talk to that wiggly baby and ask for cooperation ; )

Dude. They are having major babies over in the November DDC, not like one or two early ones, it's a real baby boom. WE'RE UP NEXT!!!

The little one here likes to kick, punch and such with the upper body.  So, even though I know from hiccups that each set of hiccups are way low (which is the ultimate indicator baby is head down here for me) I still get movement low as well.  Though yes, huge movement is also up near the top as well so that also verifies it too but I still get plenty of other movement middle and lower.  I think we can sort of do a 'belly mapping' where we feel the biggest, etc. and that's a good indicator overall.

I definitely think that babe can move around later in pregnancy...have a friend whose babe did exactly that, though I think she also had some sort of high fluid issue where baby just had a lot of space to move in LOL.  If you have normal fluid (and the fluid does go down near the end of pregnancy) it's not that likely that baby is going to be able to physically move out of position that much to a full breech position.

OK, now you have me wanting to peek over there.  DH woke up this morning and said...."it's November 1st and this baby is supposed to come next month!"  Yes, we have a lot left to do over here, I also remember early in the pregnancy thinking of Halloween as sort of the unofficial beginning of baby season and my sign that it's not much time!  Amazing.

My oldest DD was cute, they apparently let them take a couple small candies in their lunch after halloween and she was ruffling through her pillowcase and put a twix on my belly telling me it was for baby.  LOL

So far today, I have coughed my pelvis into place *and* sneezed it back. Ouch.

Ouch!

You ladies have me reading the November birth stories already...how many weeks left until one of us reports back with baby! I wonder how our DDC is going to do these posts.  I think each Momma deserves their own thread and maybe we could start a 'birth announcement' thread where we put links to our posts!  Thoughts?

That sounds good, that way we can subscribe to the thread and then when new posts are added, we can click the link and follow the story. smile.gif

Or we can get it stickied to the top like our roster is and that way it's easy for anybody to check.  :-)

MW says baby is head down and although she would like me to be 36+4 she'd be okay with negotiating to stay home anytime after 36 even, which is what I want.  I'm sort of recovered from my cold and trying to get through what feels like a marathon day of MW apt, grocery shopping, and work tonight to tell people where to put stuff back (we thought we might flood so everything was put up at least 2' off the floor, I'm the one who knows where it all belongs.)

Hi Mamas!

I have been a little checked out this week due to lame work-related stress interfering with all my fun!

I had a midwife appointment on Monday and we discussed the plan should the placenta not move. At this point they are comfortable with my laboring at home for as long as seems appropriate unless there is some significant bleeding, which feels like really good news. I am, of course, not thrilled about the possibility of having to move to a hospital in the middle of my labor, but this scenario is far, far better than the planned cesarian birth I was initially told would be in my future by the ultrasound doctor. I won't know too much more until my next ultrasound, which is in another few weeks. Other than that, things are plugging along. I am sleeping a ton better since discovering the magic of breathe-right strips! I am generally pretty tired, but no where near as bad as I was when I was getting zero sleep. I am also super crabby and have lost most of my patience with just about everyone the last couple of weeks. The biggest challenge for me right now is dealing with customers at work. I am avoiding leaving my office like the plague. I don't really have to be on the floor other than during busy times at the restaurant, but I dread it. Between the comments about my "huge" stomach and the nosy questions, I kind of wish I could on a magical pregnancy invisibility cloak!

You are all in my thoughts and I wish I had more time for personals, but I must get back to work!

I don't think I have a psychic 6 year old, either, or a surprise twin, but that has been a conversation around our house pretty much the whole time!

I'm exhausted today - working at the school on holidays SUCKS. It's always so fun to see everyone having so much fun, but it is CRAZY high energy, super busy, and as much as I tried to take some short breaks yesterday, I was pretty much on my feet the whole time. I really despise holiday party days in general, but this one, pregnant, was a nightmare... I slept well last night, but can't seem to get myself going today. It's basically noon, I need to go vote today but DH took my car without asking, so now I am waiting for DP to come pick me up & take me. I just want to go back to bed!
