Alright! The response to the idea of the birth bead swap (original thread here) was really good, so I thought we'd go ahead and make an official sign up sheet with all the details!
What is a Birth Bead Swap? Essentially, what happens is this: Everyone involved buys a certain number (however many people sign up to participate) of beads with a special meaning to them (reason for special meaning can vary. how the bead looks, what material it is made of, design, color, whatever reason....). They then ship the beads they chose to share in a small padded envelope to the "distributor" (Jodie). The 'distributor' then organizes the beads (so that each person participating receives a bead from all other participants) and sends each participant their new set of beads. Once you get your beads in the mail, you can string the beads onto a string or a chain (to make a necklace or bracelet) and use it as inspiration during labor/birth. It is a nice reminder of all the women on this group who support you and are going through the same change at the same time as you!
Important Dates to Remember:
November 15th - Deadline for sign up.
November 16th - Receive PM from Distributor stating her shipping address, # of people signed up, and any other details.
December 15th - Last day to mail out your package to the distributor (Don't forget to include everything! More details below.)
January 5th - Last possible day for distributor to mail your birth bead package back to you (Hopefully sooner!!!)
What to include in the package you send to the distributor:
- The beads you want to share (at least one per participant)
- Personal note of encouragement or inspirational quote you'd like to share. (This can either be x number (however many participants) of handwritten notes or just one note that I can type up to distribute to all of the participants.)
- $2-3 for the cost of shipping your new set of beads back to you (specific detail to follow in PM on Nov. 16th)
- Your name and address on a piece of paper or post-it so I can ship your new bead set back to you!
