I felt the same, and actually was a little bummed at first (I think partly because I finally realized that DD is growing up and there will never be a baby girl in my family again). But I decided to go run errands and shop for something cute for a baby boy to wear, and by the time I got home I was excited to have a son again (I had been excited about either a boy or a girl earlier in pregnancy). Now I'm thrilled.

Haha! You would think, with me having a miscarriage, I would have been ecstatic to just be pregnant and want EITHER, but I didn't. I wanted a girl soo badly! But the second that they told me I was having a boy, I was so excited to have a spunky little mister running around! I love him just the same. The tricky part is dressing him. I hate 90% of all baby boy clothes. :( It's so hard to find something to please me!!

OMG! I know! I just made a FB status yesterday about how, apparently, stores all think I'm obligated to dress DS in only clothes which feature sports, vehicles, or teddy bears. Geesh.

I mean, I have found some cute alternatives on Etsy, ThinkGeek, Zulily, etc. but nothing affordable. I foresee a lot of sewing/crafting in my future to modify the plain stuff. I've got some fantastic ideas on my MicroDork Pinterest board.

Oh and wait til they're toddlers... then your options are skull & crossbones and various monsters/aliens with weapons.  I thought I was buying just a cute button down plaid shirt for my boys at the gap, then one day I rolled up the sleeves since they were hot and lo and behold, skulls on the INSIDES of the cuffs. on an 18 month shirt. seriously.

Ugh! It's even more frustrating when you go into a store to buy baby clothes and there's an ENTIRE baby section FULL of girl clothes and there's a teeny wall with ONE rack of boy's clothes. Really?

We went shopping today for some clothes for little mister. I found that the only things I approve of are stripes! Haha! We did find find several really cute things at one store and I decided that, since you can hardly ever find decent baby boys clothes, I may as well buy them then or go without. So I ended up spending way too much money today. :)

I found the outfit I think I want for baby's first day (can't really call it a going home outfit if he's born at home), and even though the website made a big fuss about "NOW offering international shipping!" When I tried to check out, it was all "Nope. We won't ship that to you." Maybe I'll ship it to my mom and my dad mail it forward to us. It's cute, but not too cutesy.

Congrats everyone! I'm new here but this seemed like the perfect thread to start with because...

I just found out a couple days ago I'm having a BOY!  One technician wasn't completely sure but the other was and from the pictures she got it was pretty clear to me although I'm no ultrasound expert.  I was at 19 weeks and one day.  So far he's been quite active on every ultrasound even the early ones.  Just like his father, full of energy.  I've been feeling him move for about two weeks now although it was rare a week ago.  It's become more frequent now and I love it.

Haven't gone shopping for boys clothes yet, but I hope I have some better luck than some of you have had.  My son is not wearing sports themed clothes and certainly not skulls!

Ironmam, what a bummer! I know it probably costs out the hiney to do that, but I would if I were you! If you can find things you're pleased with, don't pass it up! lol

Welcome Kate! Now our little boys are taking the lead! I don't like sports themes either... or firetrucks... or monsters... or lots of other things!

I agree that it's hard to find cute clothes for boys. I don't mind his clothes being mostly functional when he's older, but I do like plaid and stripes. I like skulls, too but I don't know that I'll dress my child in them. I've gotten some hand-me-downs, so he might be wearing mostly whatever we get for free. I also don't like many boy names, but I'm sure we'll choose one eventually.

I am with all of you on baby boy clothes preferences. I really do like things like whales, sailboats (sometimes) and general european style striped outfits. Hanna Andersson is ridiculously priced, but www.zulily.com often has some really sweet deals on similar stuff!

Try clothing three boys! All the stuff I want to buy is at least 20 an outfit ... Love Hannah Anderson style! We have been very blessed with the multiples group here and we have to weed out the sports stuff and anything that says I love daddy ... And I hate characters like Mickey Mouse ect! And why does boy clothes have to b blues and browns?
I did score 12 overalls on eBay for 10.00 so I'm thrilled with that !!!!

I do like whale stuff, and actually was thrilled to find whale stuff in the girls section when DD was a baby. I snapped up every whale item I saw. lol. And the outfit I want for Theodore for his first day (the one I'll have to ship to my mum) has a whale. The whale is on the onesie, which is paired with nice grey pants and a really pretty blue checkered, button down shirt. So it is cute, but not too cutesy. I like outfits that look just a bit grown up...something about seeing those itty bitty miniature versions of men's clothing makes me all gooey inside. orngbiggrin.gif

I know that there can always be tech goofs (happened to a friend of ours who thought till 34 weeks that she was having a girl and had all kinds of pink and brown stuff bought...then found out it was actually a boy)!!

Anyway, knowing that, the tech still was pretty confident that we are having a girl!! Her name will be Penelope Grace. We have had the name Penelope picked out for over four years now, but changed our middle name we had picked out from Sage to Grace. It seemed appropriate after our three losses and the complications I had and the decision not to have more bio kids that our surprise miracle rainbow child have the middle name of Grace.

I was just reading the introductions post and there are a handful of women on there who know they're having boys (but aren't as far as I can tell on this thread).   It kind of blows my mind that, including the IRL people I know, all of a sudden April boys have taken a lead after the start we had here!
