My daughter has to wean her six month old due to all the adrenal support and vitamins she needs to take to be able to function. She is always tired, but feels better when she can take vitamin shots, cortosol, and other adrenal supports. She is afraid this will harm the baby. We are thinking about goats milk, and maybe rice cereal to start out with. We've read that nutrients need to be added to the goats milk. Any advice?

I'd always heard that formula should be used in the first year and not another animal's milk, so I'd check with your doctor on that if donor milk is out of the question. As for first foods, many people start with cereals, but more and more people are also starting out with foods like mashed avocado, banana, sweet potato, etc. Thanks so much for the info. We will check on the goats milk versus the formula. I think she is going to go with rice cereal. I beleive I started my children on vegetables, but it's been so long ago I can't remember for sure.
post #4 of 511/5/12 at 7:04amI'd feed formula till at least 12 months. I never did give mashed/baby-foods though. I just started them off with little bits of whatever we were eating - once they could sit up, they sat at the table with us and had little bits of food to pickup with their fingers (or try to). Eventually they moved on to having spoons/forks/etc, so that by 2ish they were eating with all the rest of the family the same things as we were. Good luck!
