Treating epididymitis at home?

DH has had mild pain in one testicle for a few weeks now.  At first he kept saying he probably pulled a groin, but since it has not gone away he/we are getting more concerned and are pretty sure that its not a pulled groin.  He has no other symptoms, and the pain is not severe.  We think it is epididymitis, not caused by an STD.  I have been giving him goldenseal extract, Herbpharm brand, since yesterday, giving him garlic, and he even drank a little home made kefir which he usually refuses to do :)

I am not sure this is what I'm supposed to be doing, so was wondering if anyone has any other thots

I had epididymitis a few years ago and went on a course of antibiotics for a month. It had eased up by then, but came back with a vengeance as soon as I stopped taking the medication.  I went back on it for over 6 weeks, and that finaly took care of the issue.

I realise that I have not answered your question, since I did not resolve my issue at home, but just wanted to warn you that if your DH goes the antibiotic route, that it takes a while.

Thank you for your imput!  We don't use prescription drugs at all, and this is the first time I've actually doubted myself and thought maybe that's what we need to do...  I'm really not wanting to go there tho!!

There may well be a natural remedy of some sort.  I am clueless in that area.  In my own case the pain was often a bit more than mild.  As usual I waited at least a month to see if it resolved itself, as often that happens.  However in this case it did not, so in desparation I went to the doctor.

Yeah I agree that may be what he needs to do.  The goldenseal isnt working yet, the ache is still there, but as you said the abx dont necessarily take care of it right away either.  It would help if he ate better i suppose, but it is hard, for work he is gone a lot so its whatever he can eat at restaurants, and there arent always healthy organic restaraunts around!

By the way - totaly off topic - but I love how you describe the state where you live.  I wish none of them paid for it.  In fact I wish all doctors would abide by the oath they took when they became doctors and "Do no harm".

Oh thank you!  You're the first person to comment on that!  And I agree :)  I support the practice in no way whatsoever, so I am really happy that my tax dollars, which I have no choice in how they are spent, are not going towards supporting it either!

Btw, my husband's condition seems to have improved, he said he had no pain the past few day's and we have stopped giving him goldenseal, so hopefully it is gone!  I used Herbpharm brand goldenseal extract if anyone is interested :)
