Does anyone else's baby choke a lot? Quinn chokes because of my letdown, and when she gets too upset, and sometimes when she is just chewing on her fist. It is so scary.

Piper chokes occasionally when she sticks her whole hand down her throat or when she gets a little too excited eating.  It is kind of scary, but it doesn't really seem to bother her (which is weird).

My friend (and former next door neighbor) is my gestational buddy.  Our due dates were two days apart and we delivered two days apart exactly one week late for the both of us.  Sooooo weird.  Her babe is a giant though and Piper is pretty average in size.  Still, really funny coincidence.

Atticus chokes himself all the time by stuffing his fist in his mouth (the weirdest is when he puts one fist in his mouth, then uses the other fist to jam it in further).  He seems totally unfazed by it, but it freaks me out!

Lilytiger!!! I JUST realized that we both gave birth on the same day and I almost named my child, Piper, too.

My friend and I were one week apart and we gave birth to girls TWO MINUTES APART. We gave birth on opposite ends of the city, so it was probably the same freaking time. I was on time and she was about a week early. What are the odds of that?! They are also about the same size.

So weird!  I love the name Kenzie, by the way!  We need another Piper-esque name in case our next one is a girl, so I'll have to keep that one in mind.  What was your original due date?  Mine was August 6, so I went into labor at exactly 41 weeks.

Glad to see I'm not the only first-timer who is already talking about the next one!

:-) Thanks! Same due date! Too funny.   Except I *had* to go in for an induction and they ended up breaking my water instead. I'm bitter about that. I know for next time IF we choose to have a 2nd child to not have an induction.

Haha! Penny and Lily - we're talking about the next child too, with a mixture of excitement and dread. We're basically just not using birth control, but also not "trying". I haven't had a period yet, so who knows when is possible.

Also Armie's favorite thing right now is sticking fingers down his own throat until he finds the spot that makes him gag. He does it over and over again. A little limit-tester already???

Same thing here.  But I would prefer to wait a bit.  When AF shows up, I might chart.

Eh, I'm thinking of another in terms of, "Okay, maybe it isn't completely insane to have more than one child. Someday. Like 15 years from now." Though I'm quite certain it won't be anywhere near that long. We are also forgoing BC for the time being. I've been thinking of restarting temping, especially since my baby sleeps long enough at night that my temps should be fine. (And long enough that I technically can't count on lactational amenorrhea for BC.) But no clear signs of returning fertility, as far as I can tell.

I know I want another one, but at the same time, I'm afraid to have another baby because Q is so perfect and so easy, I don't know if I can get this lucky twice.  I told B that perhaps we should consider just having one and he said he definitely wants another one.  I'm thinking maybe a year from now we go for number 2.

Hi Everyone!  FINALLY, I have Internet installed this week and can catch up on this thread while it's still November..... WHERE did the month go???  Hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving!

We survived a TON of traveling over the past few weeks, logging dozens of long hours in the car and 3 plane trips already with the little guy.  We visited inlaws in MI, my parents in MA, my brother in DC, and then back to my inlaws in MI again for Thanksgiving.  And in between we moved to Brooklyn!  William is doing much better in the car although I still stress out about imminent meltdowns - 4 hrs seems to be his limit and I have to work very hard in the back seat entertaining him or getting him to sleep. Now we're finally home for a stretch (before zigzagging all over the country again for xmas) ...so we can finally get settled!  Inevitably after all this craziness, baby and mama are both now recovering from colds.....

I'm very excited about our new 'hood as there are strollers everywhere ...and lots of opportunities to hook up w/other moms and groups here.  There's so much to do in the area that we'll never get bored.  :)

I love reading through everyone's posts and seeing how much we're going through together... I had to take a break from writing this to console William who had woken up from his nap screaming, and noticed that he too was shoving his hand in his mouth (hooray for self-soothing!).... only to end up gagging on it and barfing all over us (booooo!)...

There is also discussion of Baby #2 here... DH is very enthusiastic (and balks at my concern about birth control), while I'm the cautious one citing many objections (such as my age, pre-existing conditions, and my need for a good night's sleep).... but oh how I would love love love to have another beautiful healthy baby!!!

We had exactly this same conversation, VV!  Piper is just such a little doll and so sweet and easy I'm terrified that we'll have a colicky baby or something the next time.  My sister was really easy and then my mom had me and I had colic and ear infections and got sick all the time and was generally miserable.  My mom said I didn't smile much at all the first year.  I can't imagine having a little baby like me.  eyesroll.gif  Since I got the IUD, we'll actually have to plan a second one, so I guess we'll just see how everything plays out.  My friends are dropping babies all over the place, so I can see myself catching the baby bug again sooner than I think.

NewMum, glad you survived the holiday craziness!  I can't believe all the traveling you managed to do.  Piper has just started not hating the car seat (though she still gets mad at times), so I know how stressful that can be.  I've heard great things about Brooklyn.  It sounds like things are really looking up.  It's too bad you have to do so much traveling for the Christmas holidays too.  I would be inclined to hunker down and nest after everything you've been through.

I was afraid for a colicky baby after my first was so easy...then the second was really good, the third was an Absolute angel and now #4 is so mellow too lol! I think a high-needs baby would make me get a hysterectomy orngtongue.gif
post #76 of 87
Yeah, I have the opposite problem. If I get another baby like this one, I don't know what I'll do. And he's not even that difficult! Just not the always-happy type.

I'm sure this is all in good fun and everything, but I am starting to find this conversation offensive. I love my son even if he has colic/reflux, he's still an awesome human being, we enjoy him every moment, and it's not going to affect whether I have more children or decide to have my uterus ripped out.

Boots, so sorry. I agree with you. I wouldn't feel any differently about Quinn no matter how she was. My comment comes more from being shocked with how easy going she is about things. I think sometimes she just doesn't communicate if she would like or meeds more attention. In all honesty, any concern I have about having a second is about being able to split my attention.

I'm sorry too, Boots - I think Lyle is amazing & adorable (look at that profile pic!) - I can see why the conversation above would make you feel bad.

Our plan right now is to wait 2 years and then take out the IUD - my husband and I are both crazy fertile (Atticus wasn't the first pregnancy in either of our lives) so I'm not too concerned, although I'll be 37 then and the world likes to remind me how Totally Old that is.

Wouldn't it be fun if some of us ended up in a DDC together again. Hopefully we'll still have this thread going when the next round of babies starts coming. (She says three months out)
