I had my first real contractions today! I have been having BH since 20 weeks and loads of those lately-whenever I have to pee, whenever I move almost. But twice this morning I had much more intense contractions that actually hurt-I was amazed! Right now since this is my first pregnancy I'm still at the point where I'm excited by them, I was so worried I wouldn't know what the real ones felt like when they got here. I know it could still be weeks before he's here, but it's good to know that everything is on the right track.

I know what y'all mean about sleeping, though. It seems like my belly is a rock ALL NIGHT. So uncomfortable. And every afternoon he stretches his lower body right up into my ribs which is really painful. I've carried this pregnancy so low that the skin and muscles up there never got stretched out, so now that he's big enough to fill that space out it's stretching all at once! At least the contractions I felt this morning give me hope that I won't be pregnant forever-we just can't wait to meet our precious boy :)

I have come to the realization that I will never have a baby. He's a myth. I'll be pregnant forever, and then I will die.

At least, that's what it feels like! Contractions start up lazily around midnight or so now, and get to be about every hour or hour and a half all night, until eight or nine am. So every hour I'm up. I try so hard to lay there and just pretend it doesn't hurt (but oh it does, pretty horribly), but after a minute or two my body's all, HEY you have to pee, so I have to get up anyway and do that, and by the time I lay back down the contraction peters out. Okay, great. Struggle to fall asleep for about 15-20 min, finally do so, and wake up 45 min to an hour later to DO IT ALL AGAIN

I quit! *throws in the towel*

Well, if the worse ctx seem to be linked to a full bladder maybe lay off the fluids a few hours before bedtime? Maybe that would help? I'm the type I'm willing to try anything just to feel like I'm doing SOMETHING!

Had some harsh ctx last night, then they spaced out around midnight. Ones that really made me question whether I was headed for labor. Already having more this morning, but I think she's shifted deeper into my hips again so I'm sure it's all just due to her position. OB appt tomorrow, 37 weeks. I'm beginning to reach the point I want her out. Still want her to cook, but I've gone from being 80/20 on the subject to more 40/60 .....

Sounds like my life, right down to "I will die pregnant and of old age. Pregnant FOREVER."

So whether I quit drinking water hours before bed or drink right up until falling asleep, I get contractions all night. No matter what! So I just drink whatever I feel like. Yesterday I contemplated red wine and might try a glass of that tonight. But dang, I forgot wine makes my normal, everyday RLS a lot worse. Bet it wouldn't help my pregnancy RLS at all!

Went to bed at 9:30 last night and woke for my final time at 6:45. And I'm so tired today just because of waking too much!!

wow, yes I'm in the pregnant forever club and feeling like I'm not actually having a baby.  Except I have no contractions and NO signs that I will ever give birth.  Not that I envy all your discomfort, but at least something is happening.  I literally have nothing.  I feel the same as I did 3 months ago, except much larger.  This kid hasn't even dropped and I still can't breathe.

I feel like I'll be pregnant forever, too. I was a "fingertip" dilated and 50% effaced at my 38 week appointment on Monday and have been having cramping and BH contractions, but no "real" contractions yet. He dropped right at 37 weeks. My guess is he'll be here late next week, but at the same time I can't believe the day will ever come! I had a random two days of nesting energy last week but have been totally sluggish so far this week.

Oceans: ain't it the truth about those stupid election results?! That would have made for a less than pleasant night in the hospital! All I could think yesterday was, "not today baby cuz mommy needs to vote" I've joked with DH that if we can't agree on a name I would just name the baby after whoever won the election orngbiggrin.gif P.S. is this your 4th daughter?! Send some of that estrogen my way! I want a little girl!

I have to try really hard to not be snooty when DH complains about sleep or being sore. Or even when he says, "what did you do today?" ummmm I'm freaking growing our child! Do I need to do anything else?!?! I have to admit--I'm goin to really miss using "I can't reach my feet" as an excuse to get a foot rub every night:shy

)

Ha- naming your baby after whoever won the election made me laugh!  DH and I have had the discussion about what is Mitt's full name- DH insists that it's Mittens!

I'm having my 3rd daughter and I'd love to trade some estrogen for your testosterone- I want a little boy! (next time though, I'm pretty used to the idea of a 3rd girl)

I cant tell if its moving in general (which I also didn't feel with DD), or actual BH, but it hurts and its getting very old.  Very very very.  If I get hit with a BH, its so uncomfortable to sit, to lie down, to drive in the car, to stand, the only relief is to walk and I can't always do that.  The wort part is ow often they happen.  Like, really, just quit until you're serious alright already.  They also worry me, because the really bad ones feel as bad as transition last time.  Labor wasn't as bad as the BH now, and I keep wondering, is my labor going to be just horrible?

My grandfather was a twin. When his mother gave birth the nurses asked what she wanted to name them. She asked, "Who's president?" So my grandfather was Woodrow and his brother was Wilson.

I don't mind having all girls. I'm not a big fan of gender roles, so my kids are welcome to be boyish or girlish :) So far the oldest two are a nice combo of both, my youngest is my girly girl. My OB's nurse (who I adore we've gotten to know each other through three pregnancies) said her MIL used to tell a old wives tale. If you want a boy douce with cider vinegar, if you want a girl douche with a baking soda mixture. Don't know if it's true, but there that is :p I'm not about to try it, but maybe someone else is.

faye - when this one moves it makes it 100 times worse. I hear ya!

Yup, this is me too. Baby Girl's head is still floating and I have had a total of *two* mildly painful contractions this morning in bed. Which, I guess is two more than last time but still hard to get excited about.

I had my second strip and stretch attempt yesterday (cervix still completely closed so couldn't do it) and I have my second acupuncture session tomorrow morning.

I'm feeling for you all :-(

oceanseve- I too will take my chances on the gender front, not a big difference either way.  Both ahve benefits from a whouldn't-it-be-fun perspective.  Also, baking soda? yuck.

I am so ready for this baby, mentally.  But not at all prepared around the house, so I guess we'll see what gets done.

I'm feeling better about the whole going to be pregnant forever thing today. OB said her head was wiggly again so I didn't bother asking her to check me. If she's not engaged it doesn't really matter :p 37 weeks today, I want her to make it to 38, but I'm accepting that two more weeks is not the end of the world even if I am feeling miserable. I know she'll come the weekend after thanksgiving. It probably helps that I went to my chiro this morning and feel awesome at this very moment :) Not that I expect that to last, but it's nice for my hips to not hurt.

faye - I know! I was thinking.... really? People used to do that?? I mean I know douching was at one time considered necessary, but..... really?

I'm 37 weeks tomorrow, and for some reason I've been thinking weekend after Thanksgiving too! I guess we'll just have to wait and see :)

Well my last two births started at 39 and 38+6. I'll be 39 on thanksgiving, so I figure that will be the magic day labor will start. Mostly because it would be the most difficult to pin someone down to watch my other kids lol.gif Murphy's law you know :) Honestly though, I kind of hope I do have her on thanksgiving. I spent last thanksgiving having a 12 week miscarriage, including a trip to the ER cause I passed out. It would be a great slate washing for her to be born this thanksgiving.

My kid too! I don't know if this is an "active" baby or laid back since it's my first but it sure seems active. For 2-4 hrs esp in the evenings this kid just moves all over. Hubby is amazed how the shape of my belly changes and I am amazed that this kid already knows how to do karate. With his butt too, right in the ribs sometimes. Or the feet to the lungs so I can't breath. Have to love that one.

I don't think I've had read contractions. Every time I have "harder" or more "crampy" BHx, it's baby moving around or punching my cervix. I think that's why Linda said expect Thanksgiving... which would be 42 weeks 1 day.....

I don't quite feel like forever yet, but it's probably bc I still always have "one more" project I could add to work on before baby comes. Lol

I'm up to pee with you girl! Lol Don't have too much in the way of BHx at night but sometimes baby's position kills me. He's usually on my bladder all night and WAY low. By the time I get up, he's transverse across my ribs till I walk around a while. Go figure.

Don't quit! We're almost there Mama! thumbsup.gif

ME TOO. I was due yesterday, unless you go by when I ovulated, then it's tomorrow. But still. Don't think he's going to come then either. No cx, no dropping, haven't grown any cm since Oct started, but I did finally gain 2 1/2 lbs this week. Grand total gained 15....

OH seriously, the BH are so annoying. I can be fine, then stand up to do something and my stomach is so hard I feel like it's going to just rip or something. It was just late afternoon till bed time. Now I've woke up with some off and on in the AMs. Makes it hard to do stuff.

Your BH are getting your body ready for the birth, like working out those muscles, right? So maybe you'll have it easy! Look on the bright side of what's possible! : )

That's awesome about your gpa's name. :) My hubby was probably a twin. His Mom miscarried and bled for a long time, passed lots of big clots, and was still pregnant with him.

My 11 yr old SIL thinks of the weirdest questions. She asked me "If his twin was born, what would you have done?" (Meaning how would I decided which one to marry lol). I said, "Well then at least I would have had a choice!" Bwahaha

I think that would be a really good day for you to go into labor and have a new story! I second that date!

It doesn't seem to matter if I drink a lot before or not, it's totally random and annoying. Today at my MW appt she was surprised I had "dropped even further" and I'm like, gosh ladies you say that every week now, how he's lower and lower. Any lower and he will fall right out! She said his head was MUCH lower than last week, and could barely palpate it. That explains his painful shenanigans last night!

Holy cow, I discovered the best trick EVER today! This might be more applicable to second+ time moms, but hey it's worth a try! I feel like baby keeps flopping forward so his head isn't quite on my cervix. Maybe that's what's up with all these start and stop contractions. I bound my tummy up with my ring sling and it felt sooo good! I felt supported, the pressure on my hips felt wonderful and contractions today have felt maybe a teensy bit more productive (a gal can hope!) at worst it helped to relieve some back pain and it makes me sit straighter so it keeps baby in a better position. I've heard of belly binding with a rebozo, but never thought to do it myself. Highly recommended!

I've heard of that!! Never tried it myself but heard it can be helpful. Maybe I'll get my sling out early :)
