Anterior Placenta...

I was told today that I have an anterior placenta low. He said the low part is not unusual in this stage and generally the placenta will correct itself by growing upward and turning the part covering the cervix into membranes through shriveling. I honestly don't remember what I had with DD but I think I recall I had an anterior placenta with her as well.

Has anyone had this negatively affect their pregnancy and/or delivery? I was able to deliver DD vaginally and I certainly hope to with this one as well.

I had an anterior placenta with my last baby, and I think this one might be as well. I had no trouble last time, though I don't know if it was low in the beginning or not. I suppose I also don't know if it ever made it's way towards the back. I know it was still anterior late into the second trimester.

Honestly, I wouldn't worry about it since it's still quite early.

Can you tell by your ultrasound pictures if you have an anterior placenta?

At my ultrasound on Tuesday, neither the tech or my doctor mentioned it, but when I look at the ultrasound pictures, the placenta is clearly in front of baby... It seems like I might have one, but didn't notice before we left to ask about it.

Do you know which direction the baby is facing in the pictures though? Without knowing that for sure it'd be hard to say. It's all smoke and mirrors to me. ;)

Blah. I'm not too sure. I looked at some ultrasound pictures online that looked exactly like mine does... So I guess I will ask at my anatomy scan.

You can very clearly see the placenta there above baby.

I have one that I just learned about on Friday - which is why I can't really feel the baby. They usually move so I'm not worried.

I had an anterior placenta with my son and had no problems.  It started low and moved up, just as you were told.  He was delivered vaginally :)

Great! I'm keeping positive that I won't have any issues. I really do think I remember that DD was anterior too and I had her vaginally. I have plenty of time for it to move. =)
