Didn't know if anyone here has seen this yet: http://www.educationfutures.com/2012/10/19/what-if-schools-trust-us/

I've just had time to listen to part of it and plan to listen to the rest later. It's so true!

I've recently become intrigued by the Free Skool movement. As an unschooling family with two very extraverted girls, we're finding it very challenging to provide them with all the interaction with the larger community that they crave (especially dd1), especially since we live on only my income and I earn less than $20,000 a year. Most of the homeschooling families we know who are very active and involved in the outside world have a little more disposable income than we do, at least enough to drive around to different places, get together with others at coffee houses, and so on.

So I've been very excited lately to learn about this growing movement in my city to get people together to share ideas and skills -- for free. I'm eager to get involved and see where it takes us!

I'm glad you liked the first part of it, mammal_mama.  I have forwarded it to as many people as I can...it has totally reawakened my desire to pull my kids out of school and unschool.  The guy that gave the talk has been very pro-unschooling for years.  He's very inspirational to listen to.

Thanks for posting this, I really enjoyed it. I have spent the past 36 hours really contemplating homeschooling my DD. I can't say I know what I'm going to do, but this TEDtalk was very compelling.
