My baby girl Neala Marie arrived on Halloween. Went into labor around 5am. Water broke at 6. Arrived at the hospital around 9:10am and found to be fully diated. About 2.5 hours of pushing, she was born at 10:45am sunny side up with the cord around her neck and wrapped under her back. It had been compressed and she wasn't responding. Intubated, seizure. She was a candidate for cooling protocol, so he was transferred to u of md nicu to be cooled for 72 hour to try to prevent brain swelling from the seizure. They couldn't get a good heart rate for about the last 10 min of delivery, so no one knows anything about her prognosis. Hope and prayers and modern medicine are what we have now.
My successful vbac is a bit of a hollow victory. Trying to pump to get my milk to come in. Leaning on grandparents to help care for my 2.5 year old.
DS was a 33 weeker due to preeclampsia. Apparently my children's #1 priority is to challenge my skepticism of modern medicine...
Neala gets rewarmed tomorrow night and we get to hold her then. She should get an MRI Monday or so. We will know much more then. Just trying to take it a day at a time.
She was 6lb 2oz and 20" long with a full head of black hair. She is beautiful.
