Neala Marie in the nicu. Prayers appreciated

My baby girl Neala Marie arrived on Halloween. Went into labor around 5am. Water broke at 6. Arrived at the hospital around 9:10am and found to be fully diated. About 2.5 hours of pushing, she was born at 10:45am sunny side up with the cord around her neck and wrapped under her back. It had been compressed and she wasn't responding. Intubated, seizure. She was a candidate for cooling protocol, so he was transferred to u of md nicu to be cooled for 72 hour to try to prevent brain swelling from the seizure. They couldn't get a good heart rate for about the last 10 min of delivery, so no one knows anything about her prognosis. Hope and prayers and modern medicine are what we have now.

My successful vbac is a bit of a hollow victory. Trying to pump to get my milk to come in. Leaning on grandparents to help care for my 2.5 year old.

DS was a 33 weeker due to preeclampsia. Apparently my children's #1 priority is to challenge my skepticism of modern medicine...

Neala gets rewarmed tomorrow night and we get to hold her then. She should get an MRI Monday or so. We will know much more then. Just trying to take it a day at a time.

She was 6lb 2oz and 20" long with a full head of black hair. She is beautiful.

Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry to hear baby Neala is having such a rough start. How scary and stressful for you. :-(  I will be keeping your sweet baby in my thoughts and I hope you will post updates on her progress as you are able.  A friend of mine had a baby who required the cooling therapy and things looked very bad for a while, but he is a happy, healthy, active Kindergartener now.  They can do amazing things for these wee ones these days.  Hang in there mama and congratulations on the birth of your baby girl!  I hope you can post a pic when you have the chance.

Thank you all so much. I got to hold her today. She made it through the warming process with no seizures, and they let me hold her for about 20 min. Omg. Bliss. My milk started to come in, so it makes me feel like there is a little something I can do for her. Just a waiting/watching game now. Weaning off meds and wires and tubes as she lets us know she's ready.
Your thoughts and prayers mean so much to me.

Reading this made me break out in goosebumps.  I'm so glad she came through the warming process smoothly and I hope she continues to make smooth and steady progress.  One step at time, sweet baby!  Thank you for updating and you both remain in my thoughts!
