Neala continues to improve but things move so slowly. They're backing down on the phenobarbital slowly. She has some low tone and her digestion is slow. We are hoping those issues resolve as she weans off the meds. She isn't doing any sucking, so they are going to have OT work with her on that. They're discussing a step-down facility since she will just need to learn to feed, and won't be considered critically ill. It's good news but of course I'd rather be taking her straight home. She's breathing 100% on her own since yesterday. They took her off the nasal cannula and she did great. All these baby steps are good news but I miss her terribly and want to have her home in my arms. I'm too tired to be at the hospital all day plus I need to be here for my son as well.
Seems like I have one great day and then a couple of crappy days. Today was a mixed bag. I'm due for a really good day here pretty soon...
Come on, baby girl. Get that belly and mouth working!
