The resident just came up and was like, it was normal. I never even let myself imagine that moment. I am so happy and relieved.
We still have work to do weaning off the anti-seizure meds and watching for seizure activity. Working up to full feeds. But she is breathing with a nasal cannula and will get her first 5mL of breastmilk by gavage today.
DH got to hold her today and so did I. It was An amazing day after a very difficult day yesterday. Our whole family is walking on air.
Thank you so much again for your continued support. It really does help. I hope I can get around to congratulating you all on your beautiful babies too!!

I have chills! That's terrific! I can't wait to hear everyone's home and well! Who hoo! God is good!

Neala continues to improve but things move so slowly. They're backing down on the phenobarbital slowly. She has some low tone and her digestion is slow. We are hoping those issues resolve as she weans off the meds. She isn't doing any sucking, so they are going to have OT work with her on that. They're discussing a step-down facility since she will just need to learn to feed, and won't be considered critically ill. It's good news but of course I'd rather be taking her straight home. She's breathing 100% on her own since yesterday. They took her off the nasal cannula and she did great. All these baby steps are good news but I miss her terribly and want to have her home in my arms. I'm too tired to be at the hospital all day plus I need to be here for my son as well.

Seems like I have one great day and then a couple of crappy days. Today was a mixed bag. I'm due for a really good day here pretty soon...

Come on, baby girl. Get that belly and mouth working!

*HUGS*

Baby, you will never have less to do or more adoration for doing it in your entire life than right now, so just eat already and enjoy being fed and get home so everyone can pamper you.
