It looks like I'm too late for the editor position, but the timing wasn't great anyway. Hopefully something else will come up later this year.

Hi ladies! Sorry I've been MIA over the past month. I tend to have trouble keeping up with more than one thread and I've been over on the IVF one. How are everyone's cycles going? It seems super quiet over here. I'm wishing lots of baby dust for all of you!
AFM, had my retrieval yesterday. We got 18 eggs, 16 of which were mature, and 11 of which fertilized (we did ICSI). I start Endometrin tomorrow and go back on Sunday for transfer! We're still not sure about transfering one or two. Probably just one.

Nothing. He found absolutely nothing wrong with me. Completely healthy reproductive organs. No endo. Dye through my tubes - all clear. He thinks all of the pain I have been having may be intestinal (have a history of digestive problems) so I'll be talking to me Gastroenterologist about that.
I'm so upset, frustrated, and sad. This was my one fear and it came true. I guess I should feel glad nothing is wrong with me. But then, what the fuck? Why doesn't my body work?
Recovery has been fine so far and should be quick since he didn't have to do anything. My RE told DH he has plan for us - which I'm assuming is injectables like we discussed. We see him next week.
I might be disappearing from this thread again. I just haven't been in a good place. Have a Happy Thanksgiving for my American friends.
post #45 of 8211/21/12 at 6:19pmSila: that totally sucks:( how freaking frustrating. I'm sorry you are not feeling in a good space right now. A few months ago I was feeling totally depressed about my situation. I did a yoga challenge which meant doing a bit of yoga every day for 21 days. Doing just that little bit each day, taking that time to focus on myself, my body, my breath was enough to kick start me climbing out of a dark hole. I then started going back to some classes etc. which were immensely helpful to my sanity. This may be totally not your thing, or you may already take this time for yourself but I just thought I would mention what helped me. I will be thinking of you and sending good thoughts...

Sila, so sorry about the news from your lap. I know what it is like to want to find a problem, because with problems come solutions. It's so hard not to have a reason.
Hi to the familiar faces - it seems so quiet around here. I hope that you are all doing as well as you can be.

skeemama - thank you!
sila - I'm so sorry you have to go through this. Of course you don't want anything to be wrong, but it is easier when you have an answer. It's totally understandable that you need a break. Please take care of yourself. I'm thinking of you, and we are always here when you need it.
Bucketofrain - Ugh to the 2ww! When are you testing?
milk8shake - Hi! I hope you are doing well.

AMH testing is the new go to standard for testing ovarian reserve as far as I know. Many RE's are testing it vs. FSH or in addition to FSH because FSH can fluctuate whereas AMH does not. It's supposed to be more accurate.

shesaidboom, good luck with your transfer!
Sila, how frustrating! So sorry, I hope you find some answers soon. Thinking of you.
AF is here as of yesterday. Hopefully I can get charting again consistently this cycle, I have a feeling I'm not Oing regularly. Ordered some fertility tea, we'll see if that helps anything. At the very least, it's yummy.

skeemama - like sila said AMH tests for ovarian reserves. Even if your results come back low, it doesn't necessarily mean much. My results were very low and I was freaking out over it. My RE basically said I had the ovarian reserves of a 48 year old (they even re-ran the test because they were so surprised at the results because I have PCOS and normally with PCOS AMH levels are off the charts) and she was expecting that I'd only produce 4 or 5 follicles for IVF. She ended up getting 18 eggs out of me though, so even with low levels not all hope is lost! I know some clinics will not even bother with IVF if your levels are below a certain number, and mine definitely were. I don't know if it's that the test is not completely accurate or we just got lucky. Have you had the test done? Our first RE did not even bother with it or tell us about it and I was really upset when I found out it was pretty standard these days.
wilddoula - thank you!
I hope your cycle goes well.AFM - embryo transfer tomorrow! We still have 11 little embies going strong. We're going to transfer one and freeze the rest.

SSB& skeemama- AMH can come up unusually low if you are vitamin d deficient.
Ssb- good luck with the transfer, are you at 3 day or 5 day now? So excited to see you complete your journey.
Wilddoula- enjoy your fertility tea! I hope it does the trick
Can I get someone to take over for December?? With my IVF coming up we are trying to relax a bit.post #54 of 8211/24/12 at 7:08pmQuote:Originally Posted by toothfairy2be

Quote:Very interesting. I'm not sure what it's like in the US, but in Australia, something like 50% of the population are vitamin d deficient!
However, my AMH was excellent, and my vit d was low!
Skeemama - AFAIK, you are better off getting about 15 mins natural light (sun) exposure each day then you are taking vit d supplements.

My AMH was terrible last year and I was very mildly Vit. D deficient. My AMH this year is great, but haven't had my Vit. D testing done yet.

I take 5000 iu of d3 daily as well as more sunlight, I went from a blood test of 24 to 49 in less than 6 months. I don't have my AMH from 6 mos ago but now it is 1.1 (normal, i believe). My understanding is you could hàve more eggs/quality than they expect if the deficiency is masking your AMH. The supplementing cant hurt anyway is I guess what I'm trying to say.
Milk- i'm not sure what the stats are in the US but I know the northeast & canada have high rates of deficency. Just not enough months of sun to go around!post #58 of 8211/25/12 at 7:48pm- planegreen

Sila - I'm sorry they didn't find anything wrong when they did the lap. But on the other hand, it's always good that there is nothing wrong with you. And yet, I still totally understand the wanting it to be fixable...
Shesaidboom - SOOO exciting! Good luck!
Is AMH testing only done if you are a little older? Or is it the standard across the board with infertility problems?
AFM - CD4 today for me and I haven't been able to call the office because of the Thanksgiving holiday. I bet this is going to mean I can't do anything this month. Hmph. Maybe I will see about talking my doctor into a lap then if I can't do any treatments. I don't have a lot of endo symptoms but I had it after my first DD was born and I really can't get over in my head the thought of if I had it after my first, why wouldn't I have it again after my second? Although he always poo-poos me saying that...

I had no idea about vit D deficiency causing low AMH. Very interesting! I have no idea if my vit D is low or if it was tested. Now I'm curious to find out. I'll have to ask next time I'm in. It sounds like something that could definitely be happening with me because of both my PCOS diagnosis and then my response with IVF.
Cait - I don't mind taking over December if nobody else is up for it, but if someone else wants it, feel free to go for it!
Dh and I had our transfer yesterday, which went well. We got to watch it on the ultrasound screen, but I completely missed the moment our embryo went in. We put one in, had 5 frozen, and 4 were still catching up. Only one of those 4 made it and is being frozen today, so we have 6 embryos frozen if this cycle doesn't work out or when we're ready to try again. Here is the one they put back in..
We have to wait until December 10th to do our beta, which seems like such a long time! It's not even December yet.

Shesaidboom: YAY!! Thinking happy thoughts for you!!! I will probably able to test around the same time you'll be having your beta!!!!
EVERYONE: Sorry i've been MIA, with the Thanksgiving Holiday this past week and everything that has been going on at work I haven't had much time to get on line a lot lately. I've really missed all of you and look forward to catching up on how everyone is doing!
AFM: Today is CD46 and my estrogen has FINALLY started coming up (was 50 a week in a half ago and now it's up to 250!!!) and I have 1 follicle that is 13mm on the right side...the left side is still quiet and i'd like for it to stay that way so that this cycle isn't a bust!!! I was bumped up to 225IU a day a week in a half ago and I go back Wednesday morning for what the nurse and doctor feel will be the last monitored day of this cycle!!! I will be doing 225IU tonight and tomorrow night and then I'll have my BW and US done wednesday morning at 930...and then HOPEFULLY we will be triggering by Wednesday night or Thursday!! I foresee a lot of BDing in my future this week!!! I have been REALLY down lately so all of this good news today is giving me a crazy sense of security in what we are doing with my body!!! I have a VERY nice lining going on too, which make me feel even better!!! Thinking about everyone and hope that everyone else starts getting some great news too!! <3 you ladies!!!
