Bleeding!

Shit shit shit! I've never had this before in any of my pregnancies (this is my 3rd). I'm just about 6 weeks, it's very mild bleeding, no cramps or pain, not heavy at all. I've called the midwives and left a message.  I'm scared. Should I call their emergency number?  I'm sitting in a coffee shop trying not to freak out.

here is what happened with me a couple weeks ago.  hug2.gif

It's so scary to see, but not terribly rare.  No cramping is a really good sign.  Hang in there mama!! Big hugs!! They will probably call back and bring you in for an ultrasound to make sure everything is okay.  That's what happened with me, and everything is fine.  Just try to take it easy as much as possible.

Thanks BabySmurf.  The bleeding has stopped, I'm just hanging out on the couch. Is it normal that my midwives haven't called back yet? It's been over an hour. I called the answ service, was sobbing on the phone to the lady (can anyone say hormonal pregnant weepy?) and she said if I didn't hear back from the MW on call within a half an hour, to call back. So I called back after 40 minutes and the answering service said they'd try the MW on call's cell phone again. That was half an hour ago.  Is that weird that they haven't rung back yet? Every other time I've called a doc on call from other practices, I get a call back within a half an hour. I'm wondering if this is a sign to change providers. I have also noticed that their receptionist hardly ever answers the phone. It's a bummer though b/c all the holistic mamas in Pittsburgh love this practice (the midwives center in the strip district, if any PA mamas are on here) and it feels almost like i'm being a heretic for thinking that I am not cool with the difficulty in reaching any body.

I'm glad that the bleeding stopped! That is weird that your MW hasn't called back yet....maybe they are dealing with another emergency? I would definitely ask, because that wouldn't really sit well with me if it's just how they practice.  Maybe try getting some more feedback from your area to see if this is a common complaint, or if this is just a rare occurrence....Although, that is what my pediatrician's office is like, but we stick with them because it's "worth it" for the type of care that we get....and we don't need after hours stuff very often (and if it were an emergency, we would probably just go to the hospital...) but birthing is just one of those practices where people need to be on the ball at all kinds of hours. shrug.gif

I spoke to soon. Bleeding came back red this time, not light pink. Still no pain, but I came to the Er and here I am, waiting for bloodwork and ultrasound.  The midwives' practice still hasn't called back. Sigh. I'm still hopeful that this is nothing to be worried about.

FWIW, my bleeding did stop and start a few times, and was bright red for a while.  I'm glad that you went to the ER...you should get some answers.  So sorry you are going through this! Keep us updated.  I can't believe you haven't heard back from your MW yet greensad.gif

hug.gif I hope everything is indeed ok essco. Yes, let us know how you are!

The truth is that bleeding can be normal, but it is 50/50, meaning there's a 50% chance of a miscarriage if you see red blood. :(
I hope everything turns out OK.

Weird things. The bHCG and ultrasound at the ER showed me at 3 wks 5 days, rather than what I dated from my LMP which is 6 wks.  So either this is non-viable, or my dates are wonky. Which I suppose is possible if implantation took 12 days instead of 5 or 7. That's the normal range, right for implantation, right, 5-12 days? Also, when should progesterone levels be measured, should I ask for that too?

I dunno. Am getting another bHCG in 48 hrs. Bleeding is stopping and starting, still really light, sometimes red sometimes pink. Sigh.

The midwives center finally called back and left a message on my cell phone at 5:15 PM.  8 hours later. Needless to say, I'm going with a new provider.

I'm supposed to travel out of town on Friday AM until Sunday and don't know what to do about that. I guess I'll wait and see what the blood test results are. I don't want to go through a miscarriage alone in a hotel room.

I'm so sorry you had to wait so long for a call back! Totally unacceptable in my book! Thinking good thoughts for you...if you do miscarry, you'll probably be through the worst of it before you leave town. Hang in there - keep us posted.

Wow, I'm so sorry it took so long for the midwives to get back to you! Did they even say why there was such a delay? Still thinking good, positive thoughts for you hug.gif .

I'm so sorry you are going through this essco! Not knowing and having good care in these uncertain situations is the WORST. My thoughts and hopes are with you.

good luck essco, sending you good vibes.  let us know how the test results go.  its such a rediculously scary time anyway without this going on.

I would think that they would tell you to come in and have beta hcg levels drawn.  This happened to me as well, started bleeding in the morning (fairly heavy, enough to wear a panty liner) minimal cramps.  The bleeding lasted about 3-4 days and slowly tapered off.  My beta hcg's more than doubled in 3 days and things have been fine since.  Hang in there.  If the bleeding gets worse, or if you start cramping or seeing clots, I would just go straight to urgent care.

If you're 3 wks 5 days, then it was probably implantation bleeding.  This is what ended up happening to me.  I was off by 2 weeks because of irregular cycles.  My last reply was prior to me knowing that you already went to the ER- I didn't scroll to the last post!  ugggh.  Sorry.

Any news essco?

Hoping you're ok! I had a lot of bleeding w/ my 3rd around 7 or 9 weeks while on vacation & soaked 6 (cloth) diapers w/ bright red, turns out it was something called a placental lake. The OB did tell me there was a 50% chance of m/c & was very nice while I cried. It is scary, hoping the best for you.
