Sending "head down" vibes to everyone!

I'm fairly certain my little one is currently, and almost always, head up.
I'm not worried at all, I know there is plenty of time for turning.

But I just wanted to get this started so we can all start visualizing our babes in optimal positions for birth.

I've been doing a couple of the exercises on the spinning babies website, but not super often. Mainly just sending the message to the little one that there will be plenty of time to be head up once s/he's out! smile.gif

Last we checked (and Im pretty sure I can tell at this point, because of where the kicks are) Baby A was head down. She's the one who matters position-wise as far as being able to have a vaginal delivery.

I've been doing exercises to keep her that way, and my OB says that twins are typically pretty locked into place after 28 weeks. (I think she said only about 15% of them turn after that). So, heres hopin' she stays that way!

both my dds were heads down pretty early on (20ish weeks) this babe is still spinning every which way... makes me a little nervous.  I need to check out the spinning babies website to see what I can do to encourage him to settle.  He does seem smaller than the girls did at this point.  I am going to 27 weeks on Wednesday.

Mine was vertex at my appt. yesterday, so keeping my finger's crossed!

my baby is  head down (and has been for a few weeks most of the time, sometimes he is a bit off to the side, but i've never found him breech since i've been able to tell) I'm sending LOTS of positive happy vibes to this baby for cooperating! my last 2 didn't turn until 35ish wks with lots of work and lots of chiro visits..

my little one is still flipping around.  most nights s/he's head down and kicking my ribs pretty happily while hiccuping down low.  last night i felt a little fist up by the head which was really low!  but this morning it feels like the head might be up again (either that or this one has a really round little butt).  i know my first 2 flipped around a lot driving the midwives at the birth center crazy and causing me to get multiple ultrasounds to confirm position after month 7.

all were head down by the end- so encouraging this little one to go ahead and settle in that position as well!  and for all you other mamas out there- will think of you when i'm asking my little one to settle down the right direction!

I don't think mine is head down yet - I still feel kicks down low for the most part.  I think I only felt one or two up by my ribs this weekend.  So she must be turning around in there still?  Not sure how to tell otherwise...  I'm not experienced enough to feel her little body parts I don't think  lol!  Seeing my midwife on Monday though so will find out for sure.

Question - Will her turning head down make my SPD worse?  It's been getting quite painful lately irked.gif  I need to get on some stretches and talk to my chiro I guess?

Both of my boys have been head down since 21 weeks (I'm at 24.5 right now). Baby B was breech at 18 for the anatomy scan. I didn't feel him flip--I think as a first-time mama, I'm not tuned in to these things! I felt a lot of motion last night that could have been a flip, but it may have just been them kicking each other repeatedly.

eminvc- I dont know that at that time you would feel him flip anyway.

Im not a first time mom, and the only reason I know where they are is because I have a short torso, and their heads are big enough now to really be digging in to my ribcage at this point. Also, if you can feel where most of the movement is (the kicky kind) thats usually the feet.

my baby is head down and i feel most of my movement down low - hicccups, and smaller movements, i feel occasional bigger thumps/kicks up high but they are much less frequent .. i think most of the time the baby kicks my back where i can't feel it ..

I'm not positive, since I don't seem to be able to feel her out, but I think she might be head down since all of my strong pokes (I presume kicks) seem to be toward my ribs and the light ones (I presume punches) seem to be toward my pelvis. My doctor has never mentioned her position before and I'll be 28 weeks the next time I see her... should this be something I start asking about?

I think the head is down based on some recent kicks up by my ribcage that feel more forceful than arm movement. Once I get closer to my DD window I'll check the spinning babies site.

It's likely that she will mention it to you if baby is in the correct position or not. She should be able to tell by feeling your belly and finding where the head bump and rear bump are, but I suppose not all practitioners are trained to do this. You could ask tho.
I've just been doing it myself, there is some info on the spinning babies site that explains what to feel for. It took a while for me to figure it out, and sometimes I can't really be sure of what I'm feeling. In my case all of the kicking is low so I was pretty sure I'd find the head up near the top. My other 2 babes were head down very early on and just stayed put, so this is new to me.

I like the spinning babies site because there are a couple of stretches or postures that are good for every woman, not just for babies who aren't in the right position.

ooooooh- fun site!  and the first time i've ever seen a diagram of my preferred sleeping position!  pillows stacked all around and face-down.

thanks for the link!

i've had one baby born OP (first) and carried two posterior.  this was a great resource.

my OB for my 1st 2 pregnancies never checked position until she was doing internal exams starting at 36 wks - when i asked her about it with my 2nd (after finding out he was breech at 32 wks in an elective u/s) she said she wasn't concerned until 36 wks then if baby wasn't head down we'd talk about scheduling a c-section (freaked me out, i went to the chiropractor and started working on turning him).. now on one hand, most babies DO turn by 36 weeks but if you know earlier there are things you can do to encourage them to move so i think that is why many drs and midwives check on it earlier .

My baby was recently breech hence the uncomfortable bladder punches. Then the extreme octopus action started really busy & very active. More active than I have ever felt in any of my 6 other pregnancies. This lasted for about a week & 1/2 with several very action packed days every morning & night then a slower day then a very action packed day again etc. off & on until baby's movements finally stayed slower & gentler.

At first I was really excited to be getting awesome kick counts & then I was scared really having to pay attention to the kicks to make sure everything was alright. I had a visit with my midwife yesterday & baby is head down @ almost 27 weeks. Now baby's extreme octopus action & then slower movements finally made sense! Baby was changing positions. No need to worry about slower movements now since baby is still letting me know its in there. I just hope my little squish will stay head down.

My last baby was still breech @ 36 weeks & my midwife was able to turn him then.

It is still early so mamas I'm sending out positive vibes that our babies will either stay head down or easily change to head down when the time is right smile.gif

I think my baby A (the one closest to the cervix) is still breech.  She was breech and baby B was vertex at my anatomy scan 5 weeks ago.  After seeing where they were positioned I could tell they were still that way for almost a week from the strong kicks I was getting at opposite corners of my belly.  Then I had this dream that baby B was kicking so hard I could see little feet sticking up several inches out of my belly and I pushed her feet down and she flipped.  I woke up thinking "oh no! that wasn't the one I was supposed to be turning!"  And the next day the movement was totally different so I could tell that baby B had definitely moved.  I'm pretty positive she's back where she started now though.

Since twins have a harder time moving once they start getting crowded I may only have until 28 weeks to get these kids in position.  I'm 24w4d right now, but I'm going to wait until after my ultrasound next wednesday to really start doing slant boards and stuff.

I had a US today to check on a kidney issue (lookin' good!) and the baby's head is definitely down. Hope it stays there!

Yay for no kidney issues!!  great news.

And very great to hear than many of these babies are in the right position.

Mine is still all over the place but never head down.  Getting kicks low or in my sides, never up near the ribs.

We're having great weather but the ocean water is definitely cooling off this time of year.  Will have to see if I can make myself get in for a swim some time soon and encourage this babe to do a little swim, too.  :)
