Hey, all-

For those of you who are cesarean mamas, I want to make sure you're clued in about our local chapter of the Int'l Cesarean Awareness Network (ICAN). ICAN is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to improve maternal-child health by preventing unnecessary cesareans, providing support for cesarean recovery, and promoting VBAC. ICAN of Nashville holds free monthly educational and support meetings for the community.

There is a meeting in a few weeks you might be interested in...

Monthly Meeting: Monday Nov 26th @ 7pm

Topic: Reclaiming Your Cesarean

Cesareans, necessary and unnecessary alike, are bound to be fraught with unresolved feelings. Reclaiming your cesarean experience is likely to be a long process. Can you think of any choices you made during the labor/birth/postpartum that you feel proud of? Do you think a successful VBAC will heal you? Can you name something good (besides the baby!) that came from your cesarean experience? Join a discussion on ways we can make peace with our surgical births. Due to the delicate nature of the topic, I'm asking that only women/couples who have experienced a cesarean attend this meeting. Thank you for understanding.

Location: The Nesting Place 605 Berry Rd Nashville, TN 37204

Who Should Come: Anyone interested in learning more about healthy pregnancy, birth, and recovery is welcome to attend. First-time moms are especially encouraged to come! While childcare is not provided, children with quiet toys and babes-in-arms are welcome.

Cost: FREE, though donations of any amount to our ICAN treasury are greatly appreciated. Better yet, become an ICAN member at the meeting! Don’t forget to bring either a roll of paper towels, toilet paper, or tissues to donate to The Nesting Place for letting us use their beautiful office space.
