Long story short- I was in the ER twice on Saturday for incredibly painful spasms and cramps in my left side. In the end, it was attributed to my IBS. I am fairly certain it's Spenic Flexure Disorder, which is when food or gas gets trapped in the Splenic Flexure (the 90 degree angle in the colon where the colon goes from straight across to down).
It's been hell. Today things have improved enough that I can function and be "mom" again. The pain in my side is still there, but nearly as bad. Whenever I eat or drink, I get crampy. The xrays showed that have stool in my upper intestines, so I did an enema last night was able to go a little, which helped a lot.
I need to try to get myself to empty out totally so I can start trying to heal the intestines and avoid this happening again. I'm drinking Miralax and will be starting some kind of fiber drink. But I need to go NOW. If another enema doesn't do it, I was thinking of doing a salt water flush.
This is what I am wondering: do you think it's safe to do a salt water flush? Basically, you put 2 tsp of sea salt in one quart of warm water, and drink it. It makes you go fairly quickly. From what I understand, it doesn't go into your bloodstream since none of it has time to absorb. I've done it in the past when I did the Master Cleanse. I *think* it would be okay to do... what you think?
