I am trying to get a little stockpile of foods. What do you buy in bulk? What have you stockpiled? I am getting ready to place an order for some bulk beans. Thinking of getting black beans, white beans, and lentils..

What ever beans and grains you use most. For us it is pinto beans, lentils, black beans, and white beans, as well as brown rice, quinoa, and oats.

I also bulk buy:

whole wheat pastry flour

nuts (raw cashews, walnuts, pecans, and almonds)

gluten flour

nutritional yeast

chia seeds

hemp seeds

chocolate chips

shredded coconut

My largest jars are navy beans, quinoa, short grain brown rice, whole wheat pastry flour, red lentils, and oatmeal. I also buy organic sugar (for canning) in large quantities.

If I had more room, black and pinto beans would also be in larger jars.

i bulk buy with a lot of variety so not that much. i usually cant handle the same food too often. so many times i end up not buying bulk (because its hard to store without moths flying all over the place)

grains - rice

quinoa

buckwheat

millet

beans i'd like you to try before getting bulk (assuming you havent tried them already)

french lentils (tiny and green and delicious)

adzuki beans

fava beans (i have them without the skin. the skin is too thick for me)

kidney

garbanzo

lima

pinto

green and yellow split peas

black eyed peas

mung beans

i am still waiting to try yellow beans.

i dont stockpile. esp. beans coz they take longer to cook.

-Flour , we make our own bread and also cake , so even a 50 lb bag goes fast with 6 kids , my Mother , my brother ( and half the time my Aunt ) around

-Pasta , I use wholegrain most of the time , but if we are in a hurry , and for certain recipes , I keep regular shells around in big bags

-canned tomatoes and beans/legumes , there is a big grocery store about an hour away , where you can buy like 6-packs of canned goods , so every time I go there ( usually every few months ) I clear them out Sheepish.gif

-half an organic cow , we are not big meat eaters ( other than DS 3 ) but I am friends with a local farmer , who raises the most wonderful , beautiful cows , that have a good life on his farm , so about once every 6 months  , we get one (½) ready cut up and packaged and that is really the only meat we ever use ( other than organic chicken if I can get some , which is hard here )

-dog food , again , with 6 dogs , even a huge amount doesn´t go bad

when you say 'bulk' are you referring to the bins at stores like Whole Foods or a co-op? or is there some place else I can mass amounts of organic beans and rice and flour? Where can I order these foods from? I don't have any affordable organic stores in my area at present.

You can see if Azure Standard delivers near you; http://www.azurestandard.com/

Also, if you order in bulk from Co-op's they usually do a % discount, at least in MN, for your purchase.
