sore crotch area

I forgot to ask the doctor yesterday, so I thought I'd ask here before asking my midwife on Friday.

For about 2 weeks, my crotch area has been really sore!  It's the right side, kinda encompassing the right outer labia and where my leg joins my groin.  It almost feels like a pulled muscle... At first I thought it was because I engaged in some sheet dancing (or whatever the term is) and stretched out that muscle a bit too much.  Then I thought that maybe it was going up and down my new stairs (really steep) and climbing on milk crates that pulled something.

But if anything, the pain is getting worse.  Like when I'm walking I actually catch my breath when it feels like a stabbing/cramping pain...  But when I touch there, nothing hurts at all.  But when I'm not touching it, it's kind of a dull throbbing sensation.  Now I'm thinking pinched nerve or something?  Does this some familiar to anyone?  I don't think it's BH, because it's only on one side, but I've never had BH so I really don't know how they work either.

Anyway, thought I'd ask on here.  And while I'd like some answers, I really hope no one else's crotch is hurting.  blush.gif

Does not sound like BH, but we have so much stretching and pulling going on. You could of pulled a muscle/ligament there. Maybe light stretches massage would help? Possibly some ice?

Yes I'd say it's a muscle or ligament that got too stretched - but ask your midwife.

Thx.  I'll try some ice and take it slow.  And show my midwife exactly where it hurts later this week.  She's hoping it's not vaginal varicose veins.  Me, too!!  My mother suggested I ice it, but I wasn't sure if she just wanted to picture me icing my crotch... ;)

Thanks again!!

I know exactly what you're describing--I experienced this many times when pregnant with DD, especially towards the end (I think her head was resting more on the left side of my pelvis which is where the groin pain was located).  I felt it occasionally earlier on and I've also felt it a few times this pregnancy as well.  So far, though, it comes and goes pretty quickly, never lasts very long.  I'm dreading the possibility of it being a constant dull ache that gets worse if I move around too much (too much as in walking more than a few feet lol.gif) since that's how it was last time near the end.  That sore feeling is really awful, I wouldn't wish it on anyone so I'm sorry you're having to deal with it greensad.gif  I never did this, but I imagine using a heating pad on that area once a day would be really soothing and might help lessen the soreness.

I have it, too!  Gets worse with more activity... Boo for soreness!

I googled a bunch and I think it's "Round Ligament Pain" with can go all the way to the vulva area.  There wasn't too much as far as treatment or relief, but at least I know it's "normal".

Jodie - ouch!  I'm sorry your experiencing it, too!  I tried ice last night and it didn't seem to help.  Other than I needed my heat bag when I went to bed because I had given myself a chill - LOL!!!

Linnaea - I wouldn't wish it on anyone either!  I think I prefer the dull ache than the stabbing feeling when walking around.  Both kinda suck though.

I met with my Chiro yesterday and asked her if/when I get round ligament pain if there is anything she will be able to do, she said yes alot of times it has to do with the pelvis being out. Which thrills me Chiropractic care is new for me and I had round ligament pain with the other two and it was painful excited for hope of being able to keep it at bay.

Thanks for the information Sara!!  I'll have to call around tomorrow.  I've never been to a Chiro here before, but I'm sure Yellow Pages will help me out.  It gives me some relief hearing that there might be relief out there, you know?  Now that I've voiced it (both online here and to DP) it's like I've given myself permission to notice it fully - I feel like today I've been in a constant state of agony.  Probably doesn't help that I put flooring down in my new bedroom and was UP and DOWN off  the ground ALL DAY - lol.

I didn't know round ligament pain can extend to the vulva area, hmm, how interesting and annoying at the same time orngtongue.gif  The stabbing feeling is horrendous, too, and it's horrible how unpredictable it is.  You're walking along or doing dishes when *BAM*, lightening strike in the most sensitive part of your body.  It's not only painful but frightening as well.  When it first started happening to me when I was pregnant with DD I did a google search that helped me see plenty of other pregnant women experience it, too, and it's just part of all the weird stuff that can happen when another human is growing inside of you.  It helped relieve my worry but doesn't take away the misery, unfortunately.  Another thing that strikes me on occasion is sudden lightning strikes to my cervix or vaginal area (that seem to originate from my cervix but not positive).  Those make me go yikes2.gif  Not fun.

In the past week or so I've been experiencing sore hips, which was definitely something I lived with almost constantly during my last pregnancy, starting around the same time, I believe.  I first believed it's because I needed more pillows between my knees while sleeping on my side but that only helps marginally.  It's more than likely due to all the changes taking place and there's not much I can do about it.

I had round ligament pain with my DD. I didn't know what it was and had to look it up, too, and then one of the women in my office who'd had it, explained what it was and it was both a relief and an annoyance--the things they DON'T tell you about pregnancy!! I also had horrendous hip pain during the last trimester that lasted until my daughter was about two years old.

This pregnancy, I've had occasional round ligament pain, if I overdo things, and I had hip pain from almost the very beginning. I don't know if it's entering a different phase of pregnancy or a combination of walking long distance most mornings and a body pillow between my knees, but both have been fairly tame in the past few weeks, unless I overdo it. Either way, I'm sticking with my four miles every morning, and my pillow every night, because I'm perfectly happy to be pain free. XD

Just an update: I spoke with my midwife and she suggested "Lecithin" - normally helpful for varicose veins but she figured it couldn't hurt.  I've been taking 1200mg twice a day since Saturday evening and today things feel a lot better.  I know that they probably would have gone away eventually, so I don't know exactly what is causing my relief, but I don't much care.

I've also left a message at a Chiro clinic - it's a long weekend so I figure I'll hear back tomorrow.

I'm glad you have found some relief! :)
