How are your kids taking the news? Do they know?

I'm a single mom and my 5 year old son was the first person I told. He knows I've wanted another baby for years. Almost did it on my own ended up with an old fashioned surprise. Son has been so excited. He offered to be the daddy. So sweet. I told him there was gonna be a daddy and he was okay with that. Now he's acting out a lot. A huge transition for our family and I think he's scared about what all it will mean.

How are your kids taking it? Any behavioral problems? Any ideas?

We told the kids several days after we found out, so about 5 weeks. I am just terrible at keeping secrets. We had a miscarriage at 13 weeks in March, so the first thing my 4yo daughter said (very matter-of-factly) was "I hope this baby doesn't die." Which was sad and sweet at the same time.

They were moderately excited and my daughter really enjoyed being the one to announce it to her grandparents - "I'm going to be a big sister!". No behavior problems as of yet, and they are both trying to come up with names for the new baby, which is fun.

We told our daughter last weekend. She is three and has been asking forms sibling for a year and a half. We recorded it, it was pretty cute. I told her I had a baby in my belly. She said, "what?" the I told her again and she said, "cool!" she wanted to hold the baby right away. Every now and then she says that there is a baby in my belly. She also likes telling people she is going to be a big sister.

My boys don't really seem too concerned lol.gif . I don't think it's very real for them yet.

My DD is almost 3 and has been asking for a baby brother for a while now. So we told her that there is a baby in my belly and she said YAY BABY BROTHER!! Man, I sure hope she isn't too disappointed if it is a girl! Now she will randomly kiss my belly, or put her face right down near it and talk to her "baby brother" it's pretty cute.
