Yay!  Some positive reviews for ATL.  smile.gif  I agree, the airport is big, but it's laid out in a logical manner so you can easily get from one place to another.  And delays are usually due to weather elsewhere.  With it being Delta's biggest hub, they prefer to keep their fleet in ATL rather than risk it being stuck all over the country due to weather.  Can you tell I grew up in a a pilot community?  winky.gif

Concourse E is another good place to hang out.  There's a piano bar near the food court so it makes for some good people watching.  And there are lots of Starbucks now.  caffix.gif

Katie - totally agree about ORD!  I lived in Chicago for a while and avoided it like the plague.  If I could fly out of MDW, I would every time.  I basically lived between ORD and MDW so it didn't make a difference.  And parking was cheaper at MDW.

Lyann - PBI is a great little airport.  My former in-laws live near there; easy-peasy to fly to ATL and connect.

I do like that there is a train at ATL. That was cool.

I agree that it does take humor to raise little ones. I always cringe when I see a parent with a small child or a few small kids and the mom looks miserable, the kids are bananas, and no one is having a good day. I find that if DD is saying no to everything, asking her what she does want helps, especially since she is really verbal. She even has some 4 word sentences now. The other day she wanted nothing to do with what I had planned out for the day and we were getting on each other's nerves so I asked her what she wanted to do and she said 'Pizza pizza, and make cookies.'

Hope everyone is having a good week and starting to feel more normal again.

Amanda, I am totally unsettled with my weight gain too...10 pounds so far this pg. I am fairly small to begin with, so that seems like a lot. I only gained 25 in my last pg, but I have a feeling this one will be different. Trying to embrace it, but it is hard not to feel fat (esp when last night DH saw a pic of me from 6 years ago and says "wow, you were skinny"). But mw assures me this is totally normal and they want you to gain 30-40 anyhow. Idk if bf-ing is the same each time, but I am hoping it will peel off the weight very easily this time like it did the last time. Of course I am 9 years older this time, so my faith in that wavers...

From what I found online, body temperature or a little bit higher is ok, but I have basically no idea how to judge that. Does anyone have tips (or if you have a baby bath thermometer, can maybe describe what 99-100F feels like)?

Alternatively, has anyone asked a care provider about this and gotten a more relaxed answer? I did wonder if this is one of those things that doesn't really need to be proscribed in pregnancy except stay away from extremes.

If your skin turns red when immersed, it may be too hot. If you flush when immersed, you may be getting too hot. It takes time to heat your internal temp up over 102 and keep it there, so watch for the signs of getting too hot. Otherwise, its really not a worry, especially because baths cool down on their own.

Thanks x2, n! I kicked the throat thing in no time, but DD took a little longer, today is her best day yet, so I think we are good to go. Just keeping fingers crossed that DH doesn't get it! I am trying the black bean soup recipe you posted tonight, really looking fwd to it!

Family drama...so sorry for you guys dealing with it, I know how it sucks.

Oh, the toddlers! The highlighter and the peeing in the cheerios had me howling! Write those ones down, you will want to remember them (and as much as you think you'll never forget, things fade).

I am so happy its Friday! Just a few more hours of work and I'm free! We have friends coming over tomorrow and are planning a trip to the newly opened nature & science museum in our town. I can't wait for 2 days of sleeping in! Woo-hoo! Any fun plans for your weekends?

Ugh, potty training, DD is so stubborn. I've basically given up really trying at home for at least a little while. She does well at daycare, only wears a pull-up for naps, but she has only about 1 accident a week now outside of that. At home she just will not go on the potty. She will try, though she sometimes fights that too, but she has only gone twice at home in the months we've been trying. I think when I am ready to try again, I'm going to have candy she likes to bride her with. She's really into candy right now, so I think that may do the trick. For now I'm just backing off though at home so she doesn't dig in more. DH is mostly with me, but sometimes he gets stubborn too and wants to "make her" use the potty and I ugh, so not helping smile.gif

I kind of had to make my DD use the restroom at 2 yrs old... one day she just decided she didn't want to wear diapers anymore, so I started picking poop of the floor and putting it in the toilet and she figured it out within a month. I always say your child will be potty train when YOU are 100% ready. She's now 3.5 and accidents are really rare, I think the last one was more than 6 months ago.

So I've been really excited about getting a co-sleeper for this bub, and couldn't believe that no stores in my city carried them, and neither did Amazon.ca.  Then if found this.  They've been recalled in Canada due to suffication risks (ie: being trapped between the co-sleeper and mattress on the adult bed)!  I sort of feel like this is like co-sleeping generally (which we did with DS), but since I haven't used a co-sleeper before I don't know.  Who has experiences with co-sleepers here?  Now I'm trying to figure out how to get one of these puppies from the US, but shipping is over $100 to get it to Canada!  Now I know why they sell for so much used here.  Le sigh.

Katie, I don't know much about PT since we did EC with DS, but my friends who did PT seemed to have good success with the 3 day method.  Just didn't put the little one in diapers and planned to spend an entire weekend at home very vigilently running to the bathroom as necessary and giving lots of praise for potty success.  You could also switch to trainers at home so that you don't have to deal with messes but so that DD knows diapers aren't an option anymore and feels wet when she goes in her pants.  Just some thoughts!  Good luck!

I like ATL airport too, except for the security line ups!  I guess they aren't always bad, but travelling home from Atlanta once during spring break, we lined up for well over 2 hours to get through security.  I'd never seen anything like it!  I like the train system and I like all the restaurants, etc.  San Fran has a cute, little airport.  They have a great book store there too.  And I really liked the one in Minneapolis/St.Paul.

I started looking into getting a co sleeper, but they are expensive and considering my DD slept on her belly, on my chest, since day one (the only way she would sleep) and that she sneaks into my bed every now and then. Overall it sounds like a rip off and co sleeping worked fine the first time without it, I guess I just have to be more strict with DD staying in her bed.

We have a mini Arms Reach co-sleeper that I bought off of CL. It was a great diaper holder. I think DD slept in there for maybe 10 minutes her whole life. Our friends borrowed it and their kid loved it; DD had to be touching me to sleep. So we will see what happens with the next one. It does have a lip (about 3 or 4 inches high?) on the side next to the bed, so baby can't just roll from sleeper to bed.

I am actually starting to feel pregnant this week- breast tenderness and OMG my back is killing me. Feeling more movement, too. Midwife appointment on Tuesday!

Could you get a crib and just side car it instead of a co sleeper?  I know it's much bigger but it might be easier if tracking down a co-sleeper doesn't pan out.

We did a pack n play with the bassinet thing in it next to the bed and DD would start the night there and end in our bed. I didn't know what co-sleeping was I just thought I was being a bad mom ROTFLMAO.giffor letting her sleep with us and nursing her laying down. This time the new babe and I are going to co-sleep on some mattress toppers on the first floor so DD and DH can get good sleep during those first 6-8 weeks of nursing and being up all night. Praying for another good sleeping baby!

I have decided that I am for sure having another girl! I have been trying to be in denial this whole time that I am having another girl but at 16 weeks +1 day my MS has been trying to make a come back along with some goofy food aversions to things I have been eating for over a week. I am hoping it is a last hoorah before it DIES FOR GOOD! But this MS has been almost identical to how it was with my other 2 girls + this babe has the same high heartrate. So I think we are team pink! Our girl name is Penny June! Our other daughter's name is Claira Jae, so they will be CJ and PJ. energy.gifenergy.gifBounce bounce bounce!

Other than that we saw that a nice booster seat with the high back was on sale for $30 at target so we got that for DD today. I think we will just wrap it up as a bonus Christmas present. Also, the cold bug has finally stuck our house. DD woke up with it yesterday. So far just a runny nose and a little extra tired for me, but I am sure I am next to get it. Well, got to go take my carrot muffins out of the oven. Hope everyone had a good weekend.

I will probably repost this in the new thread tomorrow if I remember!

We do a pack-n-play bassinet next to the bed also.  The second part cracked me up!

so this weeks been a tad crazy, my brother collapsed and had a seizure, and hes been in intensive care with a tonne of tubes..he dislocated and broke BOTH hips.. hes only 35 :( its worrying really... hes out of icu now and into orpho ward but so worried about him, hes still on oxygen and had to have emergency surgery to have both hips pinned and now hes completely bedridden, i went in yest to see him, and im going there again tommorrow (today arg i should be asleep!!) to help him sort his hair out and get a bit fresher as i have spent my fair share of time hospitallling so know ALLL the tricks :P on the plus side my sisters were down from wales and durham (which is practically scotland) to see him, so it was nice as i never get to see them, and i went round my dads and we all had dinner. dad squeezed me in at the last minute, but it was lovely all the same. Was the first time i'd seen them all since i was pregnant and they were all actually really excited about it... fran and kat had a squidge of my tummy and dad scanned in the scan picture and made a blown up copy of it that he presented to me lol.. then announced that my baby was smoking :P dads worrieed about me, but him seeing me helped his fears about my health i think as im doing really well strenghwise, also he did tell me he is really excited about being a grampy, and i thought he would be :) hes the oldest out of his brothers (60 next year) and the only one not a grampy yet, so its nice for him :)

Anyway a crazy week it has been... im still a bit all over the place from the news about my brother, but it has been lovely to see so much family as normally i go it alone pretty much.. me n my dad are close but both very indepenant and same with my brother, but the others live miles away.. the rest of my family on my mums side i just never see as i dont speak really to my mum unless i can help it.. all a bit complicated..

Also.. got obsteatrician tommorrow and physio at 8.30am which meas i have to be up in 4 1/2 hours.. :o .. luckily im coming home after physio to go to sleep between physio and ob as ive got ob at 3.20 and then i am going to see my brother at 6.. talk about a busy day!! somewhere in this i said i mite pick up my boxes from my ex.. exciting much :S
