Toddler vomiting

Apart from typical spit up as a baby, this is only the second time 19 month old DD has thrown up. The first time was maybe a mouthful and it really didn't seem to upset her. This time she drenched herself, me and the recliner we were nursing in. She was shocked, cried a little but calmed down easily and then shortly became her bubbly self again. She had a fair sized meal then a car ride to grandmas where she drank a LOT of water very quickly (500 in an hour or less), then a car ride home again. The food was fresh and safe (both DH and I had lots with no ill effects) and she doesn't seem to have a stomach flu. She calmed down easily and has nursed to sleep. My instincts tell me that she was probably just way too full and her body did what it needed to do to feel better. I'm inclined to see how things go tonight and not call the dr unless she feels worse again. Any thoughts or similar experiences? I'm sleeping with her in her room to be on the safe side in case she is unwell again. Do you think I should be worried?

The only thing I'd be worried about is the potential mess! Doctor won't be concerned with vomiting unless dehydration occurs.

I'd go easy on feeding your child...sips of liquid until you're sure vomiting is over.

Thank you for your reassurance. All she's had now are a few sips of water and nursing. She's vomited again, poor thing. More of supper came up and within five minutes she was herself again. Well a version of herself that goes back to sleep easily lol If she does it again, I'll might just call telehealth and speak with a nurse to be on the safe side. Thanks again! I'm hoping for a dry night here and a little girl who feels better.

Little ones are amazingly resilient with the tummy stuff. It's much harder on mom! Hang in there...hope you all get through it quickly.

One more episode, then a couple of hours of sleep, then she nursed a bit and brought the milk back up :-( At least her poor little tummy is empty now. I'm having such a hard time sleeping... She seems to be getting through it more easily than I am, despite her poor little tummy. It sucks SO much when our kids are sick and we really can't help. greensad.gif

Update: she is starting to keep breastmilk down! I think it will blow over quickly now... She's napping on my chest, catching up on sleep. When she was awake, she seemed entirely herself (except being ticked at me for not letting her drink a lot while she was still puking) so I hope the worst is over. Thank you for your calming words, I really needed them in the middle of the night.
