Ditto on the swollen lower region;) - but I've had that for months, so not a sign of impending labor...

zebrachick - I have a bit of apprehension about this birth, too.  Not a bad feeling or anything.  Just that knowledge, after four previous births, that something hard is coming up!  I'm excited about it in many ways, but apprehensive as well.  I don't think that's surprising though!

I'm in the 6+ weeks category (I've got almost 8 wks until my due date of Jan 5th).  But I've definitely got some new stuff going on - though more third trimester, than birth-y.  Mostly, I feel a lot more pressure in my pelvic area and on my cervix.  And some occasional sharp cervical twinges (not the disconcerting little baby punches down there, which I also get).  Those are my most birth-y symptoms I suppose - I'm also having a terrible time getting comfortable at night again, and am short of breathe a lot, but unfortunately those symptoms probably aren't going anywhere too soon!

I guess I'm swollen down there. orngtongue.gif I don't notice it until I'm wiping after a BM (and I don't push for those, just let them come, so it's not hemmorhoids or anything) and I feel stuff down there that isn't normally there, lol. But I haven't done any checking it out in the mirror or anything. 1) I'm a little afraid of what I'll see and 2) with a belly this large and arms this short, I don't know if I could get a mirror at the right angle, anyway. LOL.

Statistically that has got to be rare.  Or there are just a whole lot of us on this board that are anti-intervention and therefor these little ones get to stay in longer? Or maybe most of us are due later in the month not at the beginning? Not sure but I imagine someone has to go SOON!! orngbiggrin.gif

(With my last pregnancy I was due in August and I swear 1/2 the babies in our DDC were born in July.)

It is a GOOD thing that we've all been pregnant this long. I don't want any preemies or NICU babies here. The last DDC I was part of, my baby was here and gone months before anyone else's came.

This weekend was intense with the birthy stuff but I think it was mostly a case of overdoing it:) Lots of contractions that weren't regular but were uncomfortable. Major crampy feelings accompanied by lower back pain. Totally swollen in the nether regions too. Jude likes to bounce up and down I think:) In the morning she's usually pretty high but by by night it feels like she's going to just fall out. Super unpleasant feeling. Sadly I still have horrible heartburn:/

My past births are so funky though: 1 and 2 were both born at 36.5 weeks, 3 was born at 36 weeks, and 4 was born at 39 weeks. I have NO CLUE when this one will make her appearance. I keep thinking December 20th for some reason. With my last pregnancy, I had these birthy feelings for about three weeks before I had her so I'm not holding my breath with  Jude.

Ok mummas. I didn't want to join this thread cos I thought it was all in my head but I can't deny what I've been experiencing. Even midwife says there *could* be some "early" signs here.

-contrax every evening. Proper contrax and BHs
- Freakish amount of pressure down low.
-baby engaged to the point that its shoulders are on my cervix now (god knows where the head is lol)
- doing "birthy" poops around 3 times a day due to sooo much pressure
- emotionally frazzled
-nesting like a mad women
- and yes, swollen down bellow too. To the point that I think "what the hell am I even wiping? A melon?!?!?" When I'm on the loo!

I did not expect any of these symptoms to be as extreme as they are until about 39 weeks ish... 10 days til I'm 36 weeks and can birth at home... But I don't want a 36 weeker.. Too scared it won't be healthy enough...

Doing my head in over here!

Pelvic girdle pain for the last few days..... No fun.... And a waddle lol!

I looked at the pix of me the day before labor last time nd my belly is at least as big already!

Hang in there mamas we're on the home stretch smile.gif

travelmumma - Just drink lots of water, put your feet up a lot, read, watch movies - rest and relax.  Resting and water can really make a world of difference.  xoxoxoxo

TM - ditto what kel said - lots of fluids, take it super easy. As annoying as it may be, you could experience this for weeks and go over your DD... or you could have a perfectly healthy baby a week from now :)

I had a good round of contractions on Saturday (I think I wrote about it in the weekly thread); since then, I feel like baby is going to just fall out, especially when I go to the bathroom. Counting the days til 'go date' and still crossing my fingers to make it through Thanksgiving!

Travelmumma, ITA with other posters about taking it easy for the next couple of weeks. I had some actual labor contrax (not BHs) about two weeks ago and I immediately started taking it slower. Things have since calmed down. BTW, my MW says that a 36-weeker is usually fine, so you'll probably be okay if you go at that point too. smile.gif

Travelmumma--I remember having a lot of contractions with my first and I actually was able to up the cal/mag and it seemed to help immensely.

Right now I don't feel like I have any real signs of stuff going on here.  I think I'm 33 1/2 weeks here, though they're saying 34 (guess they'll keep it at the ultrasound date as the go date until I get close to post dates LOL).  They scheduled out the rest of my appointments through 40 weeks...ack.  I guess it's a sign it's all getting close.  By the u/s date the earliest I can go is Dec 5th.  Though my first three were all past 40 weeks, it's the fourth that threw me for a loop at 38 w 4d.  Did not expect the water to break.  There is that full moon on the 28th...we'll see if that does anything!

Just adding my reassurance that a 36 week baby will most likely be just fine.  DD was born 36 weeks 4 days at home, totally fine, no problems whatsoever.  I am now 12 days from that date in this pregnancy, and I doubt I'll go a lot further (although I acknowledge that I don't know what will happen and could go longer.)  But lots of cramping feelings, lots of contractions, lots of nesting feelings if not exactly energy, and so I just want to get past Thanksgiving (36+1) and preferably 3 more days so everyone is not nervous, and have this baby!

not feeling any more birthy than my last post, but baby definitely dropped today. she's been low for several weeks, but last night and today she was really wiggly and pushing on my ribs with her feet, and suddenly i feel like i've been kicked soundly in the crotch and my stomach is visibly about 2 inches lower than yesterday. i'm either 35.2 (by conception) or 34.4 (by lmp) today. i'm really hoping this doesn't mean anything, because i've got 4 weeks exactly till my parents come and i'll have someone to drive me to the birth center and watch dd if i go into labor. have any of you mamas with multiple kiddos dropped a whole month before labor? google says "up to a few weeks" before, but that's not super reassuring.

I'm 37 weeks today and feeling very birthy.  EEK!  I've still got exactly 1 more week of school (with an exam and presentation to give...) and it would be nice to have a couple of days to breathe after Thanksgiving before this babe makes his/her arrival.  I had an appointment today and she checked me (I'm fine with it, and I was curious - just 1 cm and 70% effaced...) but now I've been having what feel like real labor cramps/back pains for 5 hours.  DD was born at 40+3 but she was breech and I never had the cervical pressure or BH that I've had with this little one because she never really nestled down on my cervix, not even really when I was in labor!  DH and I just keep looking at eachother a little freaked out - we're so not ready.  All of the diapers aren't even washed, we don't have a car seat yet (I suppose we could put this new one in DD's carseat if push comes to shove but I don't know where the newborn insert for that carseat even is right now...) not to mention we won't have family around for another week to watch DD.  Yikes!

I'm debating between a shower and just going to bed.  I think I'll just try to sleep and hope things calm down because a shower sounds like too much work right now.  Here's hoping that things are quiet and I wake up tomorrow morning still pregnant :-)

I'm not sure I would have any clue if I was feelin birthy or not, LOL! With DS, I never went into labor and with DD, I was THREE weeks past my due date (which I'm sure was accurate since I was charting at the time) and in denial for the entire day that I was in labor, even with cx coming 2-3 minutes apart and lasting an hour after getting progressively longer/stronger/closer together and hurting me all dang day.

With this babe, I really don't even know how far along I am lol. I got pg on my  very first cycle after having DD (18 months later, yay breastfeeding) which I was not charting and was kinda wonky...on top of that I have irregular cycles historically, so calculating by LMP is probably bogus. That being said, going by LMP, my EDD was yesterday so I would be 40+1. My ultrasound at 21 weeks gave me an EDD of 11/30 so I would be 37+6 going by that date. My midwife thinks I'm probably somewhere in between and we all expect me to go past whatever my date is anyway so....basically it's a crapshoot LOL.

Symptom wise, I have occasional BH that are kinda intense but thats about it. I did have loose stools for a couple days but apparently that wasn't a thing.I do feel lots of cervical pressure these days so I guess thats a good sign. Nothing else though. Feeling too crappy to "nest". I'm sooo tired, like first trimester tired. I asked DH to check my cervix but from his description, it sounds like a whole lotta nothin goin on irked.gif

I'm SO ready to have this baby!

From what I understand it is fairly common to feel this way after having a cervical check :/ Some women have especially touchy cervix and when examined they react this way. Whether or not it will lead to active labor for you, who knows, but if not I would suggest you not get checked again until you are ready to have a baby ; )

I would take a shower--that always slows or stops things if it isn't the real deal for me. Also, I know what you mean about not feeling the cervical pressure from first pregnancy--my DD didn't engage or drop until after I was already dilated--so, I never felt a head on my cervix. When I posted this thread babe was in the LOT position and very low--felt like I was sitting on a baby head, but this week babe has rolled over to ROP/T and I no longer feel like I am sitting on a baby head--odd--but I do have a very long torso @ 5'11'' and there is still plenty of room in there vertically to go up and down....

P.S. get that cars eat installed and wash those diapers!! haha you are full term mama!!!

Ok add super dooper amounts of discharge to my list of feeling birthy.
It's not urine and its not water but my god it can go through clothes/pillows etc so damn fast you would thinks I have a little water bottle I'm carrying upside down!

Today I am feeling crampy all over - my lower back, my lower abdomen, my legs, my shoulders... I know some of that is just pregnancy stuff, but the lower back & abdomen is feeling a bit more pre-laborish. I really need to let go of my fears of this baby coming before the 20th, or I am going to manifest just that!

When is your earliest 'go' date?  Apparently mine is the 5th of December.  Not that I want to go that early.  I have requests here from other kids NOT to have this one on their birthday though LOL.

Hey, I get the same thing!  Someone referred to it the last pregnancy as being 'extra juicy'....kind of gross, but that describes it fairly well LOL.

My 'go' date is next Tuesday - the 20th. I seriously do not want to have baby before Thanksgiving, though. I want to enjoy my time with my family. I'm fine to have a baby next Sunday ;)

My 'go' date is next Sunday (36 + 4)!  And really, I would like to have baby sometime on the 25th - 30th (for a totally silly reason - to make my extended family calendar - which has 2 birthdays in November and 5 in December - easier).  But really, for me, the farther from Christmas the better and as long as baby starts labor I'm happy to have another 36 or 37 weeker.  My body just doesn't seem to cook them that long.
