We watch tv in our house. We don't have cable, so it's all on-demand stuff from the internet, netflix and such. I recently started to let my 3 yo daughter watch and it has become a huge motivator. Like, she'll do anything easily and willingly if she thinks she's going to watch tv after it. It's kind of awesome for me. She also frequently requests it as an activity. I don't really object to tv watching in general, and she actually seems to be learning a lot. But how much is too much? Should we only do it at certain times of the day? She's watching sometimes up to 2 hours a day, which is a lot considering she's in preschool for 6 of her waking hours.
I know parenting styles vary wildly about the tv topic. I wanted to hear from some people who aren't fundamentally opposed to tv and have young children...what do you do? I live in an area which is sort of yuppie-crunchy. It's definitely a badge of honor around here if your kid has never eaten sugar or watched television, so I feel funny bringing it up with the playground moms.
