How come it doesn't notify people when you "Like" their post?

Maybe this has already been answered but just wondering... you know how on FB there is a notification when someone "Likes" your comment? Can we have something similar here? I guess I don't really see the point of the Like button if the poster never knows you "Liked" it unless they happen to scroll past their post again. Or maybe I'm missing something...
