Husband and MIL telling me that my Morning Sickness is "All in my head" - Page 2

Boy oh boy! I had "morning sickness" or what should properly be called the sickness from hell my ENTIRE pregnancy..yup thats right. Throwing up every single day including the day I gave birth and also with every contraction. I got that bs a lot from people and I acually got fied for missing too much time bc I couldnt even get out of bed somedays. There were two months where all I could keep down were baaked potatoes, soup, crackers, bananas and othr eeally bland foods. Mine started like youra but then oneday after eating a popsicle I thought hmm thats werid I feel like im going to be aick and it was like that everyday after. Lack of sleep seemed to make it worse and it gets harder and harder to get a goods rest as you progress. My advice to you is not to give a hoot what anyone says about your symptoms and listen to your body. Dont feel guilty. My MIL treated me the aame and I always felt my dh felt it was in my head u til the actual vomitting kicked in around month two. You'll get people pushing their pregnancy experience on you a lot so shrug it off and have. agood giggle with the wonderful bebe inside you...thats what I did. I kept thinking "we'll show them" when people said oh you're so riny you're going to have a tiny baby by csecion. Turns out I had a big chunky 7.9 bebe vaginally wink1.gif rest and dont push yourself...try all the remedies out there (nothing worked for me unfortunately and i will never deink gringerale in my life again even with gin in it) but most importantly rest and take one day at a timw. Hope you feel better soon and on crummy days just remind yourself its so worth it ! Xo

Ha! I'm the first person to roll my eyeballs when I see people milking their pregnancy for all it's worth but I also had the worst pregnancy every with my son so I'd never say anything to a pregnant woman about it. I was actually on birth control when I got pregnant (and didn't realize until I was 2 months pregnant)... I thought I was dying because I couldn't stop throwing up, and I thought I just wasn't getting my period because I was throwing up so much.

This is an old thread now so you're probably past the morning sickness, but i thought i'd chime in and say that that was very cruel of your DH and MIL. Why does she think she's some expert on morning sickness?? Just because she never experienced it doesnt mean other people dont!! I had nausea with both of my pregnancies and i also was really tired in the first trimesters. Most women experience the exhaustion and nausea, your MIL is the exception to the rule. If she or your Dh are still harassing you during your pregnancy then i say just ignore them or tell them to back off. I'd imagine they might still be telling you that you shouldnt be tired or whatever else you're experiencing which is nonsense. Listen to your body, ignore the nastiness if you can and if your DH continues to be cruel you might consider parting ways. I know its not easy but you deserve much better hug.gif
