Feeling down and out :(

I am not usually a debbie downer but I have been super sick for 4 days now. Seems like a cold with sinus infection. I usually pull through a cold when I do get them (which is rare) in just a few days but this is seriously kicking my butt! I have been drinking tea with local honey, eating chicken soup taking lots of vitamin C and using my netti pot but this sucker is relentless. I have work starting back up tomorrow and I am just wondering how the heck I am gonna make it through the week when I feel like I barely made it through the weekend. Wondering if anybody out there has anything they do differently while preggo since a big ol cup of theraflu is outta the question? Sorry to dump but feeling lonely.

You're not dumping; it's perfectly reasonable to complain, given how awful you feel. I would see a doctor soon if I were you or at least call one and describe your symptoms. It sounds like this could become more serious (if it's not already) without proper treatment. I'm not trying to scare you, but being that sick for 4 days could mean its worse than a simple infection. It's better to be safe than sorry, especially while pregnant. Pregnancy naturally lowers the immune system so that our body doesn't reject the foreign entity (the fetus). This makes it easier to get sick, to stay sick longer than normal and/or for the illness to get worse so it's really important to get checked out if an illness is lasting longer than a few days and our normal remedies isn't helping hug.gif. Also there may not be anything a doctor can prescribe you to help clear it up but at least you'll know you're doing everything you can. I just remembered something that helps me when i have a bad cold: boil some water, while its boiling add a few drops of pure tea tree oil, stand over it and breathe deeply for 10 or 15 minutes. You can also put a towel over your head to trap the steam, making it more efficient. Doing this once or twice a day always helps clear up my sinuses much quicker than when I don't do it.

I am sick, too.  (My kids came down with symptoms Thursday and I did yesterday, so I am a few days behind them.  They are still sick, though and I hope I don't get it as bad as they do.) Here is what I do for me when sickness is around.  Crush a clove of garlic and swallow whole (like a pill) with a whole cup of water (to help with the following heartburn) 2-3 times/day. I also up the vitamin D when I have a cold. (During winter, I take 2,000-3,000 IU/day.)  I up this to 6,000 IU/day. (When not pg, I take way more when sick.) I just get soo nervous about megadosing when there is a baby inside. I also take cod liver oil 1x/day.  I also take a bath with ecinachea in it.  Ecinachea tea is good, too, supposedly.  I like Linnaea's tea tree oil and water idea.  I have never tried that, but prob will give it a whirl.

I am so sorry you are feeling down and crummy.  I hope this sickness passes and you are back to your old self soon.  hug2.gif
