Scary Event and Lesson Learned

I woke up this morning with some intense cramping. So intense that I ran to the bathroom because I was certain I was having a miscarriage but there was no bleeding. It lasted for about two hours before subsiding. I called my OB and talked with one of the nurses and she said that it is fairly common if you are dehydrated to wake up with cramping. I searched all over the interwebs to find info on cramping without bleeding and I never heard any advice other than "it's normal to have cramping as long as you don't bleed heavily."

So, lesson learned: drink plenty of fluids and make sure to go to bed with some water. I have been drinking RRL/Nettle infusion this morning and it seems to be helping.

Yep, stay hydrated! I keep having to tell myself that too. I have to force myself to drink because I'm not really liking water. I might have to start making sweet tea to stay hydrated even if that means extra calories I don't need... dang. LOL Gotta do what you gotta do.

How scary!  I've never heard that before!

I get really bad head aches so I try to drink 2-3 L of water everyday...makes me extra glad!!

I also want to add that it is not good to become over-hydrated either. Probably the very best thing for us to drink is a homemade electrolyte beverage with lemon and a bit of salt. Anyone have any good recipes that I can make up in bulk?

Why, because you have to pee a lot? I know you need to make sure you get salt as well.

I would think it would be pretty hard to get over hydrated while pregnant, wouldn't it? Although maybe it's just me because I don't like water! Ha. I seriously struggle to get the 2-3 litres.

I would love a recipe to add electrolytes though! Right now I put a cinnamon stick and apple slices in my water jug and let it sit over night. I doubt there's added health benefits but it sure tastes good! wink1.gif
