Actually the research I've looked up said you are still in a normal pregnancy zone up until you reach 43 weeks. I would avoid induction until then personally, but probably would want to have that NST thing to make sure everything was going good after you go to 42 or so or if they insist after 40 that's fine. I went 38 with my first, 39.5 with my second and 41 (+2 if you go by doc dates) with my third. All of those are completely normal. I read that average spontaneous labor happens about 41 weeks with a first time mom. I would post links, but I just remember this stuff from when I was pregnant with my daughter and went over. If you do some internet searching, you'll find more info on that. Look for when natural spontaneous labor happens on average or something.

The risks increase over 42 weeks, I was induced at 42 weeks 1 day but my midwife would have let me go longer if I wished. I was just antsy and impatient. I think 41+3 isn't long enough personally. I will wait as long as it takes this time around

I appreciate the input ladies. I have looked into it and came up with a compromise that feels safe and right for me. I am just leery of placental problems over 41 weeks and would be freaking out anyways. I am happy to go ten days past my EDD and would like help if I'm not in labour by then. With DD I got two rounds of the vaginal gel but no pitocin in IV form. I'm okay going that route again if needed and while a natural labour is important for me, a happy and healthy end to my pregnancy is paramount. I'm not suggesting that anyone else should stop waiting at 41 weeks 3 days but (at least at this point) that feels right to me. With any luck this will be a moot point and I will deliver before then. smile.gif

Thank you for all the help guys! I have a long list of questions put together :)

I am going to go with my OB. We were supposed to have our consultation today, after the canceld it last week... They (The family practice) cancelled again on us today and we could't get another appointment until next Tuesday. I have never been pregnant before, I have no clue about what I can and can't eat, what kind of exercise I should be doing etc. So I called the phone nurse just to get some basic info until next week, and she was really rude. She did not want to help me, she said they would do it next week. I said I needed to know some things now, because I have to eat until next week! Finally she gave me a little bit of info.... I am just frustrated with them already, and 2 last minute cancellation on me in the last 2 weeks doesn't seem to be a good start.
