Looking for board game suggestions for 7.5year old child-good family games to play with Mom and Dad. Any suggestions? We have Qwirkle, Checkers, Jenga, Blokus, Labryinth and could use new ideas for Christmas!

Monopoly, Guess Who

My kids are 6 and 9. Sorry is a must-have, I think! They're also loving Mastermind and Othello lately. Scrambled States is a super-fun card game for that age.

Clue, Uno (not a board game, I know), Skip-bo (cards, again). We played more card games, actually. Pinochle, hearts. There's also chess. We also enjoyed Rush Hour, and Chutes and Ladders.

Clue was my favorite board game at that age.

We like to play Carcassone with the kids, it's aimed 8+ and DH and I play the full rules. With the kids we adapt the rules (ie ignore the end of game scoring for farms) and at 5 and 8 they enjoy it too.

Enchanted Forest is another one which we adults enjoy playing with them, though it's still a bit frustrating for the younger one.

DD got bananagrams for her birthday a couple of months ago. I haven't played it with her yet but it looks good, she also got a kids puzzle book with it which she is enjoying.

This is a card game, but that's about the age where my daughter started realling enjoying Set. It's a pretty cool game.

Apples to Apples is also a card game, but it is what we play most often. We love it.

Life and Parcheesi are fun.

My DS is 8, and his favorite board, card, and dice games are:

Blokus

Trouble

Rummikub

Phase 10

Farkle

Yahtzee

Cards are preferred over here too. There's a card game called Rat-a-tat-Cat that dd is in love with right now. Also, Uno. She likes trouble and sorry too.

My daughter really likes Headbanz (not a board game; more like 20 questions), and we've had limited success with Kid Cranium. I think DD's frustration was due to her developing reading skills; I haven't revisited it now that she's a more skilled reader to see if that's the case. Personally, I enjoyed playing Cranium with her more than Headbanz. :)

My 7yo DS is into games big time! Here's a list of what we like:

Candyland (been a favorite for years and surprisingly still is)

Chutes and Ladders

Sorry

Life

Battleship

Checkers

Mancala

Uno

Apples to Apples

Stratego

Clue and Monopoly are on our Christmas list this year!

The Klutz book of boardgames is pretty fun.

My DSS is 7 and he LOVES making his own board games, we make up a new one each week.  Just on construction paper, and he draws the squares and then puts symbols in most of the squares and makes a legend so you know what the symbols mean (go ahead 3, go back 2, etc...)  Sometimes we use a dice to play, other times, any deck of cards to indicate how many spaces we move.

You can start chess. My kids like it. I learned it as I taught them. Addictive.

Also traditional bingo. Backgammon.
