How did you tell your spouse?

How did you tell your spouse or boyfriend that you are pregnant? Was it a surprise?

My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for a little over a year now. However, this last month was so hectic, because I switched jobs (same job different location), and my college degree and my college :) It was so busy that I didn't even know I was late. Usually I would tell my husband "This saturday we will know if it worked". So I went to the doctor to get a refill on a prescription (for Aderrall) and she said just to remember to get off of it as soon as I become pregnant. The next day I went to the store and bought a test because that is when I realized that I was late! I was so impatient, that I took the test at work! I was about to throw it out, when I thought I saw a faint line. So I got my co worker to look at it and she also saw a line!! It was so hard for me not to call the hubby right away :)

I bought a box of hot chocolate mixes and put the test in the bottom. I put a little note in their saying  "This woman you are living with is nuts! She loves coffee, but will be drinking a lot more of this until next July. She also did something really expensive- look in the bottom". I re-glued the box.

That night I set up the camera and told my husband I wanted to record a shout out to my family. So I said, 'by the way, I got you some hot chocolate' So he opened the box and found the note. He read it out loud. He looked in the box, and didn't see it!!! I took the chocolates out, and he still just kept looking in the box! Finally I said take it out. He said "What is it" I said "What do you think" He said "Are you trying to tel me you are pregnant?" I said "Yes" he said "But there is hardly a plus" I said "Yeah but it is there" he said "Are you serious?" I said "Yes" and then he finally smiled and hugged me.

Now we have this on Video, and we can share it with our family :)

It was too funny- he completely did not get it! i took another test a couple of days later, first thing in the morning, and the line was really dark.  He was completely clueless, because I didn't give him the head up on Saturday that my period was supposed to start! It actually ended up being a surprise for him! :)

That's so sweet! And how cool to have it on video!

Ours is nothing exciting... He was waiting outside the bathroom door while I peed! Lol

InLove2009: That's a cute story. Men aren't that perceptive typically. Gotta love them. ;)

Mine was even less interesting. I told him when he woke up in the morning. I showed him the picture. He was like no, already? We are kind of VERY fertile here. All my pregnancies have happened on the first try.

Aww! Cute story OP!

Ours is somewhat unexciting. I took the test on a whim, the day my period was due because I wanted to get the thought out of my head. Lo and behold, a super dark line next to the control line popped up immediately. I was shocked.
After I stopped shaking, I texted DP at work asking if he could call me because I needed to tell him something. He called, I told him.
Poor guy, he just wanted to come home to me, but had an important work commitment he had no way of cancelling, once he got home, we had to wait to talk about it because of my ex and the kids being around.
We finally got to share how happy we were (albeit scared!) once we went to bed!

The night before my family and I met with the babies' parents for lunch at a Chinese restaurant, my daughter and I switched the fortunes with ones that read "the transfer worked! you are going to have a baby (or babies)". The fortunes looked pretty authentic and both parents were surprised! It was so much fun. :)

Oh, that is so cool! Switching the fortunes like that. I bet they'll save them forever.

For us, it was kinda interesting. We were actively preventing...tracking my cycles very carefully and using condoms when it wasn't safe. Well, one day, I had only the very beginning signs of ovulating, we DTD that night (protected) and the very next day all signs of ovulation stopped. CM dried up, all my pain was gone. I was like, well that's weird. Did I even ovulate? Later in the week, my husband asked if it was safe yet, and I said, well here's the thing... He's the one who thought it might mean I was pregnant. Well, the time for Aunt Flo rolls around and nothing. I'm never more than a day late. So, I really wanted to test, but he wanted to be there. So, I devised a plan to take the test, slip it back in the wrapper without looking and then leave the house so I could call him so I could tell him what it said at the same time I looked at it. There was a second line, but it was incredibly faint. I then had to say that the box says a second line means yes even if it's faint, but geez it was so faint. I went into Walgreens and bought another test and took it, it was even fainter than the first one. Then I got a digital one, figuring it would be clear. I took that one that night when he got home, to my surprise it was negative. But, neither of us were convinced, but I took a pad with me the next day (I was gone all day) just in case. Still hadn't started, so bough yet another test on my way home. Took that one and once again waited to look at it until we were together. It clearly had a second line, still faint, but more clear. So we were pregnant. What a roller coaster though.

You guys had some very clever ideas!

I had planned to let hubby know during supper that night, put a single bun in our oven and ask him casually to grab supper out of the oven thinking he would ask "whats this?" when he saw just a lone bun but and to that I could answer something like "you should know, you put it there"

I thought he would figure it would pretty quickly but when I peed on the stick first thing in the morning, I got too excited and called him into the bathroom to see for himself, LOL  Waiting is hard!

I woke up early on a Sunday morning before DH and DD which NEVER happens so, on a hunch I tested and immediately got a strong positive. I decided not to wake DH but to let him fin the test as he got into the shower and came back to bed. He took forever to shave and get into the shower while I was pretending to be asleep and waiting for him to find it. When he did he was so happy.

I just called him to the bathroom and told him to look at the test. He thought it was negative at first, then I told him to look closer. Super cool story over here, lol!

I was pretty convinced I wasn't pregnant so I'd told DH how disappointed I was and how I had this idea of knitting an amigurumi Christmas ornament for his parents of a pea in the pod. I thought it was cute, right?
So then when the nurse called me with the results from my blood test (since I was wondering why I wasn't getting my period...) I called him at work. He didn't pick up so I sent a text saying: We may be able to use the Christmas ornament idea for your parents after all.
He called me back several hours later but still hadn't checked his text messages so I told him to read it. He said: "Really?"

OMG - "are you serious" InLove2009 - that cracks me up.

DH was out of town for work so I phoned him just as he was about to start work (before my kids were up) and texted him a picture of the test.  I really wished he'd been home, that would have been nice.  Then I went and baked muffins cause I knew it would be the last weekend of feeling good and I'd need some survival food for the weeks to come.

I took the test the morning of his birthday. I had to keep it in all day! DD and I made a card for him the day before so I signed it, 'Love, Momma, DD and baby.' When he got home from work I gave him the card. He said, 'Aww, thanks.', or something to that affect. I said, "Did you read it?". He said, 'Yeah.' I said, "Read it." So he read it again, "Happy birthday Poppa! We Love you! Love, Momma, DD and BABY, What! Really! WHOA!" It was pretty cool.
