For the record, my personal experience wasn't my only reason to want that vaccine. 

 

I do think that if one kid has a bad vaccine reaction it makes sense to avoid or limit vaxes in future. For an actual bad reaction, not for something mild like swelling at the injection site lasting a couple of days. On another board I saw someone considering stopping vaxes because her babe was kind of fussy after the 4 month shots, and that just doesn't seem to be a good enough reason to me.

One kid having a bad reaction, IMO, is absolutely worth taking into account for future children. That's genetics.

You could research how effective Rota vax is after one shot and go from there.  

 

I know 95% of people show  immunity to MMR after 1 shot but DTaP is not overly effective after one shot.  Good luck in sorting it out.

Several silly bickering posts have been removed for being personally targeted as opposed to on topic. "She started it" doesn't excuse UAVs.

Please reply to the OP, and keep in mind that this is mindful vaccination, which is support only.

I WILL check how effective it is after one dose, genuine thanks kathymuggle. Theres no long term studies on this vaccine which ultimately is my reason for declining further doses. I really dont care how far science and medicine has come. For example, it took fifty years for flipper babies to get an apology from the company that made the drug that hurt them. Whose to say it wont happen again?

what if your baby is 50% breastfed, 50% formula fed? I have a 2 year old who isn't in daycare but does play at indoor play areas and attends a once weekly toddler preschool coop, and a 2 month old who isn't vaxed for rota...

I would vaccinate for rota. It has a very low risk of side effects.

Rota is a PITA to get a kid through, like most illnesses, but not the end of the world. The key is hydration! The dangerous stuff is caused by dehydration, so pump your sick kid full of fluids, esp. Pedialyte, coconut water, or something similar. I'd say that by not being in daycare all day, your kid's at a lower risk of catching it. But it boils down to what you're ready to handle as a mama. I just don't like how freaking jam-packed the vax schedule is. Rota was at the bottom of my vax priority list, so I opted against it. Good luck with your decision!

Oh I see sorry. I agree with Rrrachel - I'd get the vaccine. My daughter at around 10 months had rotavirus and it was horrible. Nothing in the house wasn't covered in vomit or poo. She was still breast feeding a lot, but still ended up so dehydrated we had to go to the er and ended up with IV fluids. She dropped several percentage points on the growth curve. She was fine in the end but it was miserable. I'll never forget seeing her tiny skinny floppy body in a tiny hospital gown on a giant hospital bed. Not nice.
