Question about hCG levels re: DPO

Hi all - OK this is your first introduction to me as a crazy worrier.

I have no idea when I conceived. I must have ovulated late. LMP was Sept 27....I got negatives, negatives, negatives, and then finally a very faint line 11/6, 11/7, and confirmed pregnancy w/ blood test on 11/9. It was 20 mIU hCG.

Since then I've been taking FRERs and the line is getting way darker so I assume my hCG levels are doubling.

SO - I realize that hCG varies a lot per woman and per pregnancy, but I am dying to get some sort of handle on how many DPO I am.

With an hCG of 20 on 11/9, and super faint lines/negatives before that, is it safe to assume that as of 11/9 I was about  10 - 15 DPO? But probably not MORE than 16 DPO?

I'm going off the averages found here: http://betabase.info/showBasicChart.php?type=Single

I'm just going out of my gourd about this.

Has anyone done beta testing yet? If so what were your levels at what DPO?

I would think that is a safe range to guess on. I always get my first + 9-12 dpo.

I did the first beta testing today and the second will be Thursday, I'll come back and let you know what mine are. It will be the first time ever for me so I'm curious about it too.

Oh and I am 21 DPO.

I got my first beta on Monday. It was CD36 based on LMP which is kind of a guess. It was 746 and I go back Wed for beta 2.

IMO, a beta of 20 could be even lower that what a hpt can pick up so, I would guess 9-10 DPO. Didnt they have you repeat? One beta by itself really can't tell you much, it is the doubling that is the best clue as to what is going on.

Good luck!

If you had sensitive home HPT's they could have picked up 10 mIU or less. I know the kind I has been reported to occasionally pick up at only 6 mIU. Just thought that info could be helpful. I used Wondfos off of Amazon.

Ok I got a new level today: 6 days after getting a 20, hcg was at 452. So that's good.

I am just dying to know when I conceived bc I am all turned around! Going crazy. Any guesses?!?!

Wow! What a difference.

I wish I could help but I've never had a blood draw in early pregnancy.  Part of me wishes I did get it done but the rational part of me knows I'd just go crazy analyzing numbers!

So based on what I have copied below, maybe you can figure it out? This is for a 3 day transfer of an embryo (dpt is days past transfer), so add 3 days to the numbers on the left to get days past ovulation. I think you would be 25 at maybe 12 days past O?

My numbers were 157 at 14 days and 420 at 16 days. smile.gif

1dpt ..embryo is growing and developing
2dpt... Embryo is now a blastocyst
3dpt....Blastocyst hatches out of shell on this day
4dpt.. Blastocyst attaches to a site on the uterine lining
5dpt.. Implantation begins,as the blastocyst begins to bury in the lining
6dpt.. Implantation process continues and morula buries deeper in the lining
7dpt.. Morula is completely inmplanted in the lining and has placenta cells &
fetal cells
8dpt...Placenta cells begin to secret HCG in the blood
9dpt...More HCG is produced as fetus develops
10dpt...More HCG is produced as fetus develops
11dpt...HCG levels are now high enough to be immediately detected on HPT

Mine was 5100 at 21 DPO and then 10,100 at 23 DPO

I have only ever had minimal testing in my other pregnancies so this is all new to me, does an ob generally do these betas continuously through the first trimester or just once and/or if there is a suspected problem? I am wondering what the routine is.

Sounds like normal doubling. I've never gotten those kind of tests ever even when using an OB. I don't think they are routine. I think they are for certain circumstances.

Thanks everyone for the responses!

I've gotten a third beta done since the initial. One 6 days after the first, and a 3rd 9 days after the first. Since I don't know exactly when I O'd I'll just call them X, 6X, and 8X:

XDPO = 20

6X DPO = 453

8X DPO = 1132

So I'm very glad they're rising appropriately, and I'm more than ever convinced that initial 20 was somewhere around the 11 - 12 DPO mark. Which would put me a full *2* weeks behind my LMP - I must have just ovulated so crazy late.

Can't wait for my first u/s on Dec 5 (when I'll be 10 wks LMP, but 8 WKS, really, according to my thoughts and calculations!) to get some measurements so I can get a handle on this thing!!
