I've had that vibrating sensation as well - and I'm pretty sure it's where her head is, which she likes to stick under my left ribs from time to time.  I get tenderness there quite often so I'm assuming its her head - kicks are mostly on my right side.  I need to start checking out the spinning babies site - I don't want a head in my ribs for three more months!

I have a theory as to what the vibrating thing could be. In my prenatal class, the instructor was talking about a reflex that happens with the head - when the top of it touches something, it bobs up and down rapidly. This is in preparation for labour with the head rubbing on the cervix triggers the release of oxytocin and keeps things moving with the labour. Could that be it?

ooooh- a theory!  i was wondering if it was some nerve thing, as it can sometimes feel like a nerve being pressed and that agitation.

but it also sometimes doesn't feel that low- though usually it's really really low.  my baby is head down, so it's harder to tell, and it's often slightly to one side or the other.

curious to what other mom's think or experience!  cause Jenny's head-up baby isn't gonna do that.

and here's some more of those head-down vibes to you- Jenny01!!!  the spinning babies website is fun.  i woke up with a strange sideways/diagonal stretch of the baby that was WRETCHED and did my tilt thing to rearrange baby.  baby was certainly opposed to my rearranging but we did settle back down.  it's nice to have a 'Oh, i can do this' response to some discomforts and worries.  like is that a head bulging outside of my ribcage or else a  very firm and rapidly growing foot???  never worry, invert!  oh yes, now the hiccups are down low, and the feet are up high and the world is as it should be!!!

Thank you! I'm not overly concerned yet but it's still on my mind since *I* was a breech baby myself lol. Can anyone describe what hiccups feel like? Not sure I've felt those yet.

the hiccups feel like a series of tiny kick-like movements, at least to me. my girl is head down on my right side (has been for 3 months!) so i know exactly when she has them. it's pretty cute.

Apparently the reflex is triggered when the top of the head bumps up against anything - so she said you can feel the bobbing sensation anywhere. (Well, anywhere in your uterus that is :)

I've had the vibrating at various times in all my pregnancies and have no theories as to what it is! And Jenny, to me hiccups feel like a rhythmic twitching or very light thumping.

I was 28 weeks yesterday, so officially in the third tri now. smile.gif I don't have any new complaints yet, pretty much the same old..

The baby has suddenly turned into a gymnast in the belly. The whole fam's been sick with a combo cold and stomach bug this week (how fun!) so I wonder if my illness is making him feel crazy in there. Pretty sure the head is still down, but I've felt a lot of vigorous sideways stretching that has me wondering.

I haven't felt any vibrating or hiccups this pregnancy but I did feel both with DD.  I second the comment that this baby is a gymnast suddenly.  I had an anterior placenta with DD and again with this baby but the movements seem so much bigger and stronger and just crazy with this one.  My whole belly jumps and wiggles.  It's like he or she is trying to bust outta there...

Still very achy in the hips.  I think I need to see my chiro more frequently.  I walked for about an hour today and I can really feel it.  I feel completely couch bound for the rest of the day.  Oh and I'm sleeping like crap.

I officially hit the third trimester yesterday too! Yipee! But also AHHHHHHH!!! That means I really need to get things ready for this baby.  I am still in school full time so I haven't had much time to prepare and DH refused to talk about anything baby until we did our annual pre-Christmas purge this weekend.  So, it's looking like Christmas break will be my only time to nest.  I have been feeling so uneasy about not having more things ready.  I think I will feel better after I have a few more essentials (co-sleeper, bouncy chair, sleep sac, and stroller) and once I do a deep clean on the house and baby items I already have.  Any one have good suggestions for getting ammonia smell out of cloth diapers? If I can't get rid of it (it's pretty bad) I will have to convince DH I need some new ones (which will be a struggle).

I have felt tons of hiccups lately.  And baby is still breech as well.  I've been doing some positions/moxa/visualizing and had baby head down last week for a couple days but he/she turned back.  So I will keep working on it, it seems they still have a lot of room in there.

I am also getting the weird vibration thing regularly and have been wondering what it was.  The head reflex thing makes sense but I think I feel it over by their feet/legs too.  Who knows what's really going on in there?

Well, here's too a smooth home stretch.  We will all be holding little babes before too long:-)

Sounds like you need to strip them. Really that just means rinsing out all the built up detergent. If they get a buildup of detergent it can lead to that smell. Do you by any chance have a front loader? With my last baby we had an old school top loader (non HE) and it was SO MUCH better for diapers! I loved my front loader (which isn't new, but we moved and it was here) until I tried to strip diapers in it... and started googling. It seems like it's going to be a pain to do diapers in, but I guess time will tell.

You can also soak them in a tub then just rinse and rinse and rinse. Google "stripping diapers", there is a lot of info out there. Lots of people use a little dawn which seems to help too.

This will be DH's first time cloth diapering and he has NO idea about cloth. I told him we might need to get a new washer, and he was like... "well for the one time a month you have wash diapers maybe we can just take them to your moms." ROTFLMAO.gif He thought we would have at least a hundred diapers on hand somehow.. I guess like the packs of disposables you buy? I dunno...

I actually disagree a bit... possibly!  Not from personal experience (yet), but from lurking DiaperSwappers for a LONG time...  Ammonia usually means your diapers aren't getting clean enough in the first place.  I'd recommend Tide or another "mainstream" detergent, full strength, if your kids don't have sensitivities to them.  For some reason, the advice for a long time was to use these miniscule amounts of ("cloth-friendly*") detergents and everyone was way more concerned about build-up than they should have been.  The result was a lot of really stinky dipes.  I mean, if your clothes got pooped and peed on, would you purposefully use a teaspoon of detergent and expect them to get clean?

That's not to say that stripping diapers (e.g.: with Dawn) isn't sometimes helpful, and sometimes detergent build-up can lead to weird smells, etc., but 9 times out of 10, it seems that ammonia and other stinkies are d/t not enough detergent, not too much.  Just my experience from reading DS religiously!

*BTW, my local (and prominent online) CD shop recommends Tide above all else, even though they sell RNG.

so, reached 28 weeks, so posting in this thread!

today i've had a new development from little one- a weird humming feeling!  every hour or so, i get this deep whirring/humming feeling from the baby's head/face/shoulders.

i've had 4 pregnancies, and all the movements i could identify, but this one is very ??? to me!

anyone had a sensations similar?  it's not fists, or hiccups, but just a soft vibrating deep in my belly and down low where the baby's upper body is.  i can't help but wonder if little one is yelling back at all the crazy siblings out here!

YES. This describes what Baby A is doing. It's kind of a vibration. I've been trying to figure out what the heck it is--it's rhythmic but not jerky like hiccups.

i'm allergic to tide, break out in hives all over if something has been washed in it (same goes for Dawn dish detergent). i would add vinegar to the wash, or soak them in baking soda/water mixture, rinse then wash and add vinegar to rinse cycle.

so i decided the other night, late, that we're all having the latest generation of babies, all born with iphones in their hand.  and already calling each other across the world.  ah, hormones.

LOL ladies!

On diapers, I would try stripping them with a hot water wash and nothing added to it. Go take a peek at it when it has started to agitate. If you've got suds, you know you have detergent buildup. Keep washing in plain hot water until suds are gone.
This worked for me any time we had smell issues.

I've been hating all my clothes lately with the exception of just a couple of skirts.
The clothes I wear at home (where it's colder) are just big and frumpy and not fun at all.
I only have a couple of cute shirts I wear in town but my belly is about to pop out the bottom of them. The rest of my shirts look like tents.

But today I was able to find some very cozy leggings for home as well as some very cute, ahem, larger undies. Cute undies always helps a bit. smile.gif
