Okay, I'm new here, so, Hi! I have a question though about how any non-vax families handle their extended family. I have a 2 year old and a 9 month old who are both completely unvaccinated. And, because of that, I have a whole family of inlaws that constantly treat us like we are sewer rats carrying bubonic plague. Like, seriously, we can't even get 3 inches into their house until father-in-law whisks 2 year old off to bathroom and gives him a thorough scrubbing. We got into it a bit with my husbands parents last night and told them that not only are they continuing to get no vaccines, but we do plan on exposing them to several of the childhood diseases as they get a bit older. They were appalled and couldn't stop going on about what a danger we would be to others and how we had better watch out, especially if someone is pregnant, etc. Hubby tried to briefly and civally explain that some of the vaccines shed, so they are really more likely to be exposed through recently vaccinated cousins than anyone is likely to get sick from our boys. I guess this is a bit of a vent/request for any info or links that explain in simple terms shedding of vaccines, that outbreaks are very rarely/never started by unvaccinated children, etc. We are seeing the entire family at a dinner on Sunday and I want to freshen up my facts and be prepared incase we end up in a conversation about it.
Also, on a different note, is there anything on here where mamas post sicknesses their children have in the interest of purposely exposing? Or am I crazy to ask that? Are other people planning on purposely exposing non-vax kids? Thanks for any info :)
