Great thread! Not really nesting, yet, but the crafting never ends, here. I have 2 holiday art shows to prep for as well as a gallery spot for 2 weeks.

Here's one of my latest pieces!

Wow that's beautiful! What is it made with?

Thanks:) It's one of a new collection I'm doing with Acadia (Bar Harbor, ME) beach stones as focals, silver hand swirled wire and silver chains.

oh, this will be good motivation to finish up the advent calendar for my boys that's been sitting on the washing machine for a week.

Since we found out it's a girl this week, I'm definitely in nesting mode- got rid of any baby boy items I had, bought a bright pink cover for the changing table and mirrored butterflies to hang on the wall above it, and looking for ideas for the little nook where the mini crib will go (baby's setting up camp in our room).  Thinking of making a butterfly mobile somehow, or garland with stars or butterflies.  I bought a wall decal set that says twinkle twinkle little star, etc. And I've done some major baby girl shopping the past few days... better stop that for now.  I'll do pics when I get something finished.

I am already getting really bad about organizing everything, which is funny because DH and I are in the process of buying a new home and will be moving there before baby comes. So there's no need to be organizing things here for now, but I just really feel the need to!

Oh my gosh! I have found a butterfly mobile that I am just absolutely in love with... that I'm sure I could make a pretty nifty version of myself. I have actually thought about going ahead and making it just for fun, but even though I'm like 90% sure I'm having a girl, our ultrasound isn't for two more weeks... So I may wait until then. But I bet ya I'll be making something similar either way!

yes, that's EXACTLY the kind I'm looking at. I'm toying with the thought of just buying one. I worry that maybe there's more skill involved than I realize and mine will be lopsided and not "float" right.. but it's silly how expensive they are for just being paper and string.   do you have a link- is that a DIY or for sale?

I picked up some yarn yesterday to make a blanket for baby.

I know! They are quite expensive, but they're just so pretty. I actually found it on one of the blogs that I read daily. She had bought that one. I may end up buying one too.. But I might try making one to see how it turns out first just for fun!

I'm about halfway through a blanket for the baby.  It's this awesome squishy organic cotton I bought on clearance at AC Moore.  I have an extra skein and I'm going to knit up some matching hats too.

The mobile looks like it wouldn't be too hard to do.  We made something similar in DD's preschool recently using grapevine as the top and little puffs of wool for the "angels" - it's not as lush as the one pictured in this thread, but it was fairly straightforward.  The lopsided or not part comes from when you hang it.  That said, DIY isn't always the way to go.  Sometimes I think I'd be better off just buying some of the things I like to try making.....  I bought a coping saw and made some little wooden chickens for my DD.  She loves them but they aren't very chicken-y.

Are you knitting? I would love to learn to knit, but I've tried twice and failed miserably. Please post a picture when you're done! I would love to see how it turns out!

I was just coming here to start a crafting thread! lol

Today I made two paci-clips (one with a snap for pacifiers with a handle, and one "universal" type clip), no-scratch baby mittens, and an embellished burp rag. I also made mitten clips for DD.

I've got a board on Pinterest of neat baby projects, as well as a board of one's I've completed.

thanks for sharing!  Even though I don't have a sewing machine, you've got some other great ideas!  that glove full of beans.. I totally could have used that with my first babe, who could only fall asleep after I leaned over the crib with my hand on his chest for a half hour.   And that crib rail cover, and ball pit.. I'm bookmarking for sure.

What a great idea for the "I Did It" board!! And oh my gosh you've got some cute stuff pinned, thanks for sharing!!

I'm nesting like crazy but mostly just spinning my wheels. We've done lots of sorting of the girls clothes and getting stuff that doesn't fit out of their dressers and closets. Also got our 4 year old a new-to-us dresser and some wall stickers from the dollar store and snazzied it up for her (her clothing had bin sort of living in her old changing table and also a couple of rubbermade bins bag.gif ) and we got a bunch of stuff cleaned up in our bedroom (where our 4yo's bed and dresser also are) because we're going to need to rearrange to fit the cosleeper when the baby comes. Oooh! And I bought a new duvet cover from IKEA and I LOVE IT!! It's so pretty! Makes me smile everytime I see it!

I love to do crafts but just can't find the time yet. Plus not knowing what we're having yet has me hesitant to start planning any baby specific projects.

FWIW, I can't knit either, despite a few attempts to learn. I'm so envious of you mama's making snuggly blankets and what not for your babes!!

Errrrm... haven't made anything yet :-x I'll probably make a no-sew fleece blanket once we get the gender, and maybe paint letters of their name, other than that.. my toddlers keep me too darn busy lol

i haven't been making anything yet but OMG my cleaning as gone NUTS.

i have gone from cleaning up the house daily for about an hour and vacuuming twice a week to doing everything including organizing and re-organizing my kitchen and closets O_o

i don't think the bathroom has seen so much cleaning it gets scrubbed down almost daily for the past week.

my mom said she is going to start an intervention if i start busting out the bleach and toothbrush but so far it hasn't been that bad.

my sister in law is OCD and her response was "dear god i don't even clean that much!"

Send some of those cleaning vibes my way nettster! I need 'em! I have done more cleaning than usual, but that's not saying much (we're practically slobs most of the time). I'm seriously considering shelling out the cash for a cleaning service (hopefully one I can find on Groupon) before the holidays (especially since DD is having her first "real" birthday party with guests on Dec. 15) and before the baby is born. I just want things to be CLEAN ya know. But first I'd have to PICK UP and organize the whole damn house, because right now it's such a cluttered mess the cleaners wouldn't be able to clean anything! lol

As for knitting, firespiritmelody, have you ever tried loom knitting? It's SO SO easy! You could make 1-3 baby hats over the course of a movie. And if you have the right loom size, and instructions (free ones are online), you can make baby balls, blankets, and baby booties too! That's on my to-do list. You can even make swaddle cocoons, but those are more for photo props then regular use because babies can get their little fingers stuck in the spaces between yarn.

I've definitely been in the declutter/cleancleanclean mode. Still have a long way to go but have made some good progress. Having DD get sick and then getting sick myself definitely put a damper on things but I'm getting my groove going again.

This makes me laugh, because when DH and I first moved into our house, I was paying a lady to come in and clean our home once a week. DH used to say "why are we paying this woman? You're doing all the work for her." Because the night before she came, I was scrambling around the house wiping down my bathroom sinks and counter tops and taking out all the trash because i didn't want her thinking we were just absolutely disgusting!
